³⁰ They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what thou dost work? ³¹ Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat. ³² Jesus therefore said unto them, Verily verily I say to you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. ³³ For the bread of God is he who cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. ³⁴ Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. ³⁵ Jesus therefore said unto them, I am the bread of life; he that cometh to me, shall not hunger at all; and he that believeth on me, shall not thirst at all. ³⁶ But I said unto you, that ye also have seen me, and believe not. ³⁷ All that the Father giveth me, will come to me; and him that cometh to me, I will in no wise cast away. ³⁸ For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of the father that sent me. ³⁹ And this is the will of him that sent me, that of all which he hath given me, I should lose nothing, but that I should raise it up again at the last day. ⁴⁰ For this is the will of my Father that sent me, that every one who seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

³⁴ Jesus saith unto them, My food is that I may do the will of him that sent me, and finish his work.

¹ IN the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. ² The same was in the beginning with God. ³ All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. ⁴ And in him was life, and the life is the light of men.

¹⁶ For God hath so loved the world, that he hath given his only begotten Son, that every one who believeth on him, should not perish, but have eternal life.
