²² Then Paul flood in the midst of the Areopagus, and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious. ²³ For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. What therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you. ²⁴ God that made the world, and all things therein, being Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands: ²⁵ Neither is worshipped with mens hands, as though he was in need, for he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things; ²⁶ And he made of one blood, every nation of man, to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times appointed, according to the bound of their habitation: ²⁷ Especially that they should seek what the deity is, if haply they might feel after it, or find it, though it [be] not far from every one of us:

³ For the time past may suffice to have wrought the will of te Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:

²² [What] if God, willing to shew [his] wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much long-suffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction: ²³ And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory? ²⁴ Even us whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles. ²⁵ As he saith also in Osee; I will call them my people, which were not my people; and her, beloved, who was not beloved. ²⁶ And it shall come to pass, in the place where it was said unto them, Ye [are] not my people; there shall they be called, the children of the living God. ²⁷ Esaias also, crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved. ²⁸ For he will finish the word, and cut [it] short: which word the Lord will make upon the earth. ²⁹ And as Esaias said before, Except the Lord of Hosts had left us a seed, we had been as Sodom, and been made like unto Gomorrha. ³⁰ What shall we say then? That the Gentiles who follow not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith:

¹⁷ This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as the Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, ¹⁸ Having the understanding darkened, being alienated fro the life of God, through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: ¹⁹ Who despairing, have given themselves over to lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness and greediness.

¹⁴ That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

¹⁶ But other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they will hear my voice; and they will be one fold, one shepherd.

²⁸ Be it known therefore unto you, that this salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and [that] they will hear it.

¹¹ Where there is neither male nor female, Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, barbarian and Scythian, bond and free: but Christ [is] all, and in all.

⁷ And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up by the spirit, and said unto them, Men, Brethren, ye know how that of ancient Days, God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe. ⁸ But God, who knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving onto them the Holy Ghost, even as unto us: ⁹ And put no difference between us and them, having purified their hearts by faith.
