¹⁵ If ye love me, keep my commandments.

⁴ For whatsoever things were written, were written for our learning; that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

¹⁹ Dearly beloved, avenge not your selves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance [is] mine, I will repay, saith the Lord.

¹⁹ My brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him; ²⁰ Let him know, that he who converteth a sinner from the error of his way, shall save his soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

¹² For the word of God [is] quick, and powerful, and sharper than a two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and [is] a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart:

¹⁶ All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: ¹⁷ That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

⁵ And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, [My] son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him. ⁶ For whom the Lord loveth, he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. ⁷ If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons: for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? ⁸ But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards and not sons. ⁹ Furthermore, we have had fathers of our flesh, who corrected us, and we gave [them] reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? ¹⁰ For they verily for a few days chastned us, after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness. ¹¹ No chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless, afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness, unto them who are exercised thereby.
