¹ Take heed that ye practise not your righteousness before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward from your Father who is in heaven. ² Therefore when thou dost alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do, in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward. ³ But when thou dost alms, let not thy left-hand know what thy right-hand doth: ⁴ That thy alms may be in secret, and thy father who seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.

¹³ And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four corners of the golden altar which is before God,

¹ After this I saw, and behold a door opened in heaven, and the first voice which I had heard, as of a trumpet talking with me, said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.

⁵¹ Behold, I tell you a mystery; we shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed. ⁵² In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. ⁵³ For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal put on immortality. ⁵⁴ So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. ⁵⁵ O death, where is thy sting? O Hades, where is thy victory; The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law.

¹⁵ And the seventh angel sounded, and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdom of the world is become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he shall reign for ever and ever.

¹³ Now we would not have you ignorant, brethren, concerning them that are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others who have no hope. ¹⁴ For if we believe, that Jesus died and rose again, so will God bring with him those also that sleep in Christ. ¹⁵ For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left to the coming of the Lord, shall not prevent them that are asleep. ¹⁶ For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven, with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God; and the dead in Christ shall rise first. ¹⁷ Then we who are alive, who are left, shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and so shall we be ever with the Lord. ¹⁸ Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
