John 11:38-44

38 Jesus again groaning in himself, cometh to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it. 39 Jesus saith, Take away the stone. Martha, the sister of the deceased, saith to him, Lord, by this time he stinketh; for he hath been buried four days. 40 Jesus saith to her, Said I not to thee, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God? 41 Then they took away the stone from where the dead lay. And Jesus lifted up his eyes and said, 42 Father, I thank thee, that thou hast heard me. And I knew that thou hearest me always: but I spake this, because of the people who stand by, that they may believe thou hast sent me. 43 And having spoken thus, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. 44 And he that had been dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes, and his face was wrapt about with a napkin. Jesus saith to them, Loose him, and let him go.

John 12:1

1 Then Jesus, six days before the passover, came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, who had been dead, whom he had raised from the dead.

Luke 16:19-31

19 There was a certain rich man, who was clothed in purple and fine linen, and feasted splendidly every day. 20 And there was a certain beggar, named Lazarus, who was laid at his gate, full of sores; 21 and desiring to be fed with the crumbs that fell from the rich man's table: yea, the dogs also came and licked his sores. 22 And the beggar died and was carried by angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died and was buried: 23 And in hell lifting up his eyes, being in torments, he seeth Abraham afar off and Lazarus in his bosom. 24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. 25 But Abraham said, Son, remember, that thou in thy life-time receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. 26 And besides all this, between us and you, there is a great gulph fixed; so that they who would pass from us to you, cannot, neither can they pass to us that would come from thence. 27 Then he said, I pray thee, therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: 28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify to them, lest they also come into this place of torment. 29 Abraham saith to him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. 30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham; but if one go to them from the dead, they will repent. 31 And he said to him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded tho' one rose from the dead.

John 11:1-14

1 Now one Lazarus, of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha, was sick. 2 (It was that Mary, who anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick) Therefore his sisters sent to him, 3 saying, Lord, behold he whom thou lovest is sick. 4 Jesus hearing it, said, This sickness is not to death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified thereby. 5 Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus. So after he had heard that he was sick, 6 he abode still two days in the place where he was. 7 Then after this he saith to his disciples, Let us go into Judea again. 8 The disciples say to him, Master, the Jews but now sought to stone thee, and goest thou thither again? 9 Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world. 10 But if any man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because the light is not in him. 11 Thus he spake, and after that he saith to them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go to awake him. 12 Then the disciples said, Lord, if he sleep, he will recover. 13 Jesus spake of his death, but they thought he had spoken of the natural rest in sleep. 14 Then said Jesus to them plainly, Lazarus is dead. And I am glad for your sake I was not there, that ye may believe:
