Bible verses about "hatred" | Wesley

Matthew 5:43-45

43 Ye have heard, that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. 44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them that despitefully use you and persecute you: 45 That ye may be the children of your Father who is in heaven; for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sendeth rain on the just and the unjust.

Galatians 5:19-21

19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these, adultery, fornication, 20 uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, enmities, contentions, 21 emulations, wraths, strifes, divisions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of which I tell you before (as I have also told you in time past) that they who practise such things, shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

James 4:1-17

1 From whence come wars and fightings among you? Is it not hence, from your pleasures that war in your members? 2 Ye desire and have not, ye kill, and envy, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war; yet ye have not, because ye ask not. 3 Ye ask and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may expend it on your pleasures. 4 Ye adulterers and adultresses, know ye not, that the friendship of the world is enmity against God? Whosoever therefore desireth to be a friend of the world, is an enemy of God. 5 Do ye think, that the scripture saith in vain, The Spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth against envy? 6 But he giveth greater grace: therefore it saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace to the humble. 7 Submit yourselves, therefore, to God: resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Draw nigh to God and he will draw nigh to you: cleanse your hands, ye sinners, and purify your hearts, ye double-minded. 9 Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep; let your laughter be turned into mourning, and your joy into heaviness. 10 Humble yourselves in the sight of God, and he will lift you up. 11 Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law. But if thou judgest the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge. 12 There is one lawgiver that is able to save and to destroy: Who art thou that judgest another? 13 Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go to such a city, and continue there a year, and traffick, and get gain: 14 Who know not what shall be on the morrow; for what is your life? It is a vapour that appeareth for a little time and then vanisheth away: 15 Instead of your saying, If the Lord will, we shall both live, and do this or that. 16 But now ye glory in your boastings: all such glorying is evil. 17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

Luke 6:27-36

27 But I say to you that hear, Love your enemies; do good to them that hate you, 28 Bless them that curse you, pray for them that despitefully use you. 29 And to him that smiteth thee on the cheek, offer also the other: and him that taketh away thy cloke, forbid not to take thy coat also. 30 Give to every man that asketh thee, and of him that taketh away thy goods, ask them not again. 31 And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise. 32 For if ye love them that love you, what thank have ye? For sinners also love those that love them. 33 And if ye do good to them that do good to you, what thank have ye? For even sinners do the same. 34 And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? For even sinners lend to sinners, to receive as much again. 35 But love ye your enemies, and do good and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be sons of the Highest; for he is kind to the unthankful and the evil. 36 Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.

John 15:18

18 If the world hate you, ye know it hated me, before it hated you.

1 John 2:11

11 But he that hateth his brother, is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because darkness hath blinded his eyes.

Matthew 5:44

44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them that despitefully use you and persecute you:

Matthew 6:15

15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

1 John 2:9

9 He that saith, he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness until now.

1 John 4:20

20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar; for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God, whom he hath not seen?
