⁸ If ye fulfil the royal law (according to the Scripture) Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well.

²⁶ Be ye angry, and sin not; let not the sun go down upon your wrath,

¹ But know this, that in the last days grievous times will come. ² For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, arrogant, proud, evil-speakers, ³ disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, Without natural affection, covenant-breakers, slanderers, intemperate, fierce, despisers of good men, ⁴ Traitors, rash, puffed up, lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God; ⁵ Having a form of godliness but denying the power of it. ⁶ From these also turn away. For of these are they who creep into houses, and captivate silly women laden with sins, led away by various desires, ⁷ Ever learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. ⁸ Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also withstand the truth: men of corrupt minds, void of judgment as to the faith. ⁹ But they shall proceed no farther; for their folly shall be manifest to all men, as theirs also was. ¹⁰ But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, intention, faith, long-suffering, love, patience, ¹¹ Persecutions, afflictions, which befel me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured; but the Lord delivered me out of all. ¹² Yea and all that are resolved to live godly in Christ Jesus, shall suffer persecution. ¹³ But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. ¹⁴ But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned, and been fully assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them, ¹⁵ And that from an infant thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation, thro' faith which is in Christ Jesus. ¹⁶ All scripture is inspired of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness; ¹⁷ That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

¹ I charge thee therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the quick and dead at his appearing and his kingdom, Preach the word; ² be instant in season, out of season; convince, rebuke, exhort, with all long-suffering and teaching. ³ For the time will come, when they will not endure sound doctrine, but will heap to themselves teachers, according to their own desires, having itching ears. ⁴ And they will turn away their ears from the truth, and turn aside to fables. ⁵ But watch thou in all things, endure affliction, do the work of an evangelist, fulfil thy ministry. ⁶ For I am now ready to be offered up, and the time of my departure is at hand. ⁷ I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; ⁸ Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord the righteous judge will render me in that day, and not to me only, but to all them likewise that have loved his appearing. ⁹ Do thy diligence to come to me shortly. ¹⁰ For Demas hath forsaken me, loving the present world, and is gone to Thessalonica, Crescens to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia. ¹¹ Only Luke is with me. ²⁶ And a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught a considerable multitude: and the disciples were called Christians first at Antioch.

¹ From whence come wars and fightings among you? Is it not hence, from your pleasures that war in your members?

²⁴ No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will cleave to the one and neglect the other.

¹⁶ Yet if any suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.
