Bible verses about "inheritance" | WPNT

Luke 12:13-21

13 Then someone from the crowd said to Him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me”. 14 But He said to him, “Man, who appointed me a judge or an arbiter over you?” 15 Then He said to all, “Keep alert and guard against covetousness, because one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.” 16 Then He told them a parable, saying: “The ground of a certain rich man produced well. 17 And he reasoned within himself saying, ‘What shall I do, because I have no place to store my crops?’ 18 Then he said: ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my produce and my goods. 19 And I will say to my soul: Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and enjoy yourself!’ 20 But God said to him: ‘Stupid! This very night your life is being taken back from you; then who will get the things you have prepared?’ 21 Just like that is he who accumulates treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.”

Luke 15:25-31

25 “Now his older son was in the field; and as he came approaching the house he heard music and dancing. 26 So he called one of the servants and asked what these things meant. 27 He said to him, ‘Your brother has come, and your father has killed the fatted calf, because he has received him back safe and sound’. 28 So he became angry and refused to go in. Then his father came out and began to plead with him. 29 But in answer he said to the father: ‘Just look at how many years I have been serving you without ever transgressing your commandment; yet you never gave me even a young goat that I might celebrate with my friends. 30 But when this son of yours came, who has devoured your livelihood with prostitutes, you killed the fatted calf for him!’ 31 So he said to him: ‘Son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours.
