¹⁷ When He had entered a house away from the crowd, His disciples started to question Him about the parable. ¹⁸ So He said to them: “Can you really be without understanding? Don’t you perceive that nothing that enters a man from outside can defile him, ¹⁹ because it doesn’t go into his heart, but into his stomach, which then expels the impure aspects of the food?”

¹⁹ Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? ²⁰ Because you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

¹⁸ And don’t get drunk on wine, which can be harmful and wasteful; rather be filled with the Spirit,
