Bible verses about "covetousness" | WPNT

Romans 13:9

1 John 2:15-17

15 Do not love the world, neither the things in the world; if anyone loves the world, the Father’s love isn’t in him. 16 Because everything in the world—the craving of the flesh and the craving of the eyes and the pretension of life—is not from the Father but is from the world. 17 The world, with its craving, is passing away, but he who does God’s will remains forever.

1 Timothy 6:10

Luke 12:15-21

15 Then He said to all, “Keep alert and guard against covetousness, because one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.” 16 Then He told them a parable, saying: “The ground of a certain rich man produced well. 17 And he reasoned within himself saying, ‘What shall I do, because I have no place to store my crops?’ 18 Then he said: ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my produce and my goods. 19 And I will say to my soul: Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and enjoy yourself!’ 20 But God said to him: ‘Stupid! This very night your life is being taken back from you; then who will get the things you have prepared?’ 21 Just like that is he who accumulates treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.”

Luke 12:15

15 Then He said to all, “Keep alert and guard against covetousness, because one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”

Hebrews 13:5

5 Your way of life should be free from the love of money, being content with what you have, because He Himself has said: “I absolutely will not desert you; I most certainly will not abandon you.”
