¹³ Come now, you who say, “Today and tomorrow let us travel to that certain city, spend a year there, do business and make a profit;” ¹⁴ whereas you don’t know anything about the morrow. For what is our life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time but then vanishes away. ¹⁵ Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.”

¹³ Now may the God of the hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in that hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

⁵ not that we are competent of ourselves to reckon anything as being from ourselves, but our competence is from God —
