²⁷ “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you; it’s not like the world gives that I give to you. Do not let your heart be distressed or intimidated.

¹ “Do not let your (pl) heart be distressed; you believe into God and you believe into me. ² In my Father’s house are many dwellings (otherwise I would have told you). I am going away to prepare a place for you. ³ And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and take you to myself, so that where I am you may be also. ⁴ Now you know where I am going, and you know the way.

⁷ Because God did not give us a spirit of cowardice, but of power and of love and of self-control.

⁵ But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask from the giving God, who gives to all liberally and does not reproach, and it will be given to him.

⁶ Therefore, humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time; ⁷ casting all your care upon Him, because He does the caring for you.

²⁵ Therefore, I say to you not to worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? ²⁶ Look at the birds of the air, that they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not superior to them? ²⁷ And which of you can add one cubit to his stature by worrying? ²⁸ And why do you worry about clothes? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they neither labor nor spin, ²⁹ and yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was arrayed like one of these. ³⁰ Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which exists today and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, you little-faiths? ³¹ Therefore do not worry saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ ³² For the pagans seek all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need each of these things. ³³ Rather, seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. ³⁴ Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own affairs. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

⁷ casting all your care upon Him, because He does the caring for you.
