And he said, "Jacob." ²⁸ And he said, Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel: for in your fight with God and with men you have overcome. ²⁹ Jacob said: "Please tell me your name." The man answered: "Why do you ask for my name?" Then he blessed Jacob there. ³⁰ And Jacob called the name of the place Penuel, because I saw God face to face, and my life is delivered. ³¹ Then the sun rose upon him as he passed Penuel, and he was limping because of his hip. ³² Therefore the sons of Israel do not eat of the sinew of the thigh, which is on the hip-socket, until this day, because He touched Jacob's hip-socket, the sinew of the thigh.

²⁵ And when he saw that he could not prevail against him, he struck his hip socket, so that Jacob's hip socket was sprained as he wrestled with him.
