¹ He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. ² I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust."

¹⁸ the LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. ¹⁹ He fulfilleth the desire of them that fear him; he heareth their cry, and saveth them.

³ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, ⁴ who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. ⁵ For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows. ⁶ If we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which accomplishes in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we experience. ⁷ And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort.

⁹ Love must be sincere. Detest what is evil; cling to what is good. ¹⁰ Be devoted to one another with brotherly love; honour one another more than yourselves; ¹¹ Never be lacking in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serving the Lord. ¹² Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, persistent in prayer. ¹³ Share with the saints who are in need. Practice hospitality. ¹⁴ Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. ¹⁵ Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep. ¹⁶ Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but associate with the lowly. Do not be conceited.

¹⁶ Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.

³³ But whoever listens to me will dwell securely, and will be at ease, without fear of harm."

¹² "I, even I, am the one who comforts you. Who are you that you fear mortal men? The sons of men are like grass! ¹³ And you forget the LORD your Maker, who has stretched out the heavens and laid the foundations of the earth. And you dread continually, every day, because of the fury of the oppressor, as if he were ready to destroy. And where is the fury of the oppressor? ¹⁴ "The cowering prisoners will soon be set free. They will not die in their dungeon, nor will they lack bread. ¹⁵ "I am the LORD your God, who churns up the sea so that its waves roar. the LORD Almighty is his name.

¹ The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me; because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the humble. He has sent me to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and release to those who are bound; ² to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn; ³ to give for those in mourning in Zion, to give them a head wrap instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, a garment of praise instead of a faint spirit. And they will be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, to show his glory. ⁴ They will rebuild the old ruins. They will raise up the former devastated places. They will repair the ruined cities that have been devastated for many generations. ⁵ Strangers will stand and feed your flocks. Foreigners will work your fields and your vineyards. ⁶ But you will be named the priests of the LORD. Men will call you the ministers of our God. You will eat the wealth of the nations and in their glory you will boast yourselves. ⁷ "Instead of your shame there will be a double portion. Instead of humiliation they will shout for joy over their portion. Therefore they will possess a double portion in their land. Everlasting joy will be theirs. ⁸ “For I, the LORD, love justice. I hate robbery and iniquity. I will give them their reward in truth and I will make an everlasting covenant with them.

³ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By His great mercy, He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, ⁴ and into an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, reserved in heaven for you, ⁵ who through faith are protected by God’s power for the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. ⁶ In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer various trials, ⁷ so that your tested faith, much more precious than gold that perishes though tested by fire, may be found to your praise and glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed, ⁸ Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and rejoice with an inexpressible and glorious joy, ⁹ now that you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

⁷ For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power and love and self-discipline.

²⁵ "Then I will restore to you the years that the locust swarm devoured, as did the young locust, the other locusts, and the ravaging locust, that great army of mine that I sent among you.

²⁸ Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. ²⁹ Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. ³⁰ For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."

⁴ He will cover you with his feathers. Under his wings you will take refuge. His faithfulness is your shield and rampart. ⁵ You shall not fear the terror of night, of the arrow that flies by day; ⁶ for the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor for the destruction that wastes at noonday.

¹⁰ "'Do not fear for I am with you! Do not be dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.'

¹³ Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses. ¹⁴ He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke away their chains. ¹⁵ Let them give thanks to the LORD for his gracious love, and for his awesome deeds to mankind. ¹⁶ For he has broken the gates of bronze, and cut through bars of iron.

⁷ Cast all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you.
