Matthew 20:25-28

25 But Jesus called them to himself and said, "You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those in high positions exercise authority over them. 26 not so with you. Whoever wants to be great among you must be your servant, 27 and whoever wants to be first among you must be your slave; 28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

Mark 10:42-45

42 But Jesus called them to him, and said to them, You know that those who are regarded as rulers over the Gentiles lord it over them; and their great ones exercise authority over them. 43 not so with you. Whoever wants to be great among you must be your servant, 44 and whoever wants to be first must be the slave of all. 45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

John 13:1-38

1 It was now just before the Passover Feast, and Jesus knew that His hour had come to leave this world and return to the Father. Having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the very end. 2 The evening meal was underway, and the devil had already put into the heart of Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus. 3 Jesus knew that the Father had delivered all things into His hands, and that He had come from God and was returning to God. 4 rose from the table, took off his outer clothing, and fastened a towel about his waist. 5 After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and dry them with the towel that was around Him. 6 Then he came to Simon Peter, who said to him, "Lord, are you going to wash my feet?" 7 Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.” 8 Peter said to Him, You shall never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, Unless I wash you, you have no part with Me. 9 “Then, Lord,” Simon Peter replied, “not only my feet, but my hands and my head as well!” 10 Jesus said to him, "He who has bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean; and you are clean, but not every one of you." 11 For he knew who was going to betray him, and that was why he said 'You are not all clean.' 12 When he had washed their feet, he put on his robes and sat down; and he said to them, Do you know what I have done to you? 13 You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right: that is what I am. 14 So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. 15 I have set you an example so that you should do as I have done for you. 16 Truly, truly, I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. 17 If you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them. 18 I am not speaking about all of you; I know whom I have chosen. But this is to fulfill the Scripture: ‘The one who eats bread with Me has lifted up his heel against Me.’ 19 I am telling you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe that I am. 20 Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever receives the one I send receives Me, and whoever receives Me receives the One who sent Me.” 21 When Jesus had said this, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, "Truly, truly, I tell you that one of you will betray me." 22 The disciples looked at each other, at a loss to know which of them he meant. 23 One of his disciples, whom Jesus loved, was reclining against Jesus' chest. 24 Simon Peter motioned to him and said, "Ask who it is of whom he speaks." 25 Leaning back against Jesus, he asked, “Lord, who is it?” 26 Jesus answered, "It is he to whom I shall give this piece of bread when I have dipped it." And having dipped the bread, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon. 27 And when Judas took the bread Satan went into him. Then Jesus said to him, Do quickly what you have to do. 28 Now no one at the table understood why he said this to him, 29 Since Judas kept the money bag, some thought that Jesus was telling him to buy what was needed for the feast, or to give something to the poor. 30 When Judas had taken the morsel, he immediately went out: and it was night. 31 When he was gone, Jesus said: Now is the Son of Man glorified, and God is glorified in him. 32 If God is glorified in Him, God will also glorify the Son in Himself—and will glorify Him at once. 33 Little children, I am with you only a little longer. You will look for me, but what I told the Jews I now tell you, 'Where I am going, you cannot come.' 34 A new commandment I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so also you must love one another. 35 By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another.” 36 Simon Peter said to him, "Lord, where are you going?" Jesus replied, "Where I am going you cannot follow me now, but you will follow later." 37 Peter said: "Lord, why can I not follow you now? I will lay down my life for you." 38 Jesus answered, "You will lay down your life for me? I tell you, before a cock crows, you will disown me thrice over!

Philippians 2:1-30

1 Therefore if you have any encouragement in Christ, if any comfort from His love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, 2 make my joy full by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. 3 Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. 4 Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. 5 Yea, let this mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus, 6 who, existing in the form of God, did not consider equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied Himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to deatheven death on a cross. 9 Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place, and gave Him the name above all names, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. 12 Therefore, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not only in my presence, but now even more in my absence, continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling. 13 For it is God who works in you to will and to act on behalf of His good pleasure. 14 Do everything without complaining or arguing, 15 so that you may be blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and perverse generation, in which you shine as lights in the world 16 as you hold forth the word of life, in order that I may boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain. 17 But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you. 18 So you too should be glad and rejoice with me. 19 I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you soon, that I also may be cheered when I receive news of you. 20 I do not have anyone else like him who takes a genuine interest in your welfare. 21 For everyone else is looking out for his own interests, not for those of Jesus Christ. 22 But you know that he has proved his worth, because as a son with his father he has served with me in the work of the gospel. 23 I hope to send him as soon as I see how it goes with me. 24 Still, I am confident in the Lord that I myself will come soon. 25 But I thought it necessary to send back to you Epaphroditus, my brother, fellow worker, and fellow soldier, who is also your messenger and minister to my needs. 26 For he has been longing for all of you and is distressed because you heard he was ill. 27 Indeed he was sick, and near to death: but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but also on me, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow. 28 Therefore I am all the more eager to send him, so that when you see him again you may rejoice and I may have less anxiety. 29 Welcome him in the Lord with great joy, and honor men like him, 30 because he almost died for the work of Christ, risking his life to provide me with what you were not able to.

Philippians 2:7

7 but emptied Himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in human likeness.

Luke 22:27

27 For who is greater, one who sits at the table, or one who serves? Is it not the one who sits at the table? But I am among you as One who serves.
