Isaiah 1:1-31

1 The vision of Isaiah the son of Amos, which he saw upon Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah. 2 Hear, heavens, and listen, earth, for the LORD has spoken: "I reared children and I brought them up, but they rebelled against me. 3 The ox knows his owner, and the donkey his master's crib; but Israel doesn't know, my people do not understand. 4 Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evil-doers, children that deal corruptly; they have forsaken the LORD, they have contemned the Holy One of Israel, they are turned away backward. 5 Why should you be beaten more, that you revolt more and more? The whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint. 6 From the sole of the foot even to the head there is no soundness in it: wounds, welts, and open sores. They haven't been closed, bandaged, or soothed with oil. 7 Your country is desolate; your cities are burned with fire; your land, strangers eat it up in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers. 8 The daughter of Zion is left like a shelter in a vineyard, like a hut in a field of melons, like a besieged city. 9 Unless the LORD of hosts had left us a few survivors, we would have been as Sodom, and we would have been like Gomorrah. 10 Hear the word of the LORD, you rulers of Sodom, listen to the law of our God, you people of Gomorrah. 11 What is the abundance of your sacrifices to me? says the LORD. I have had enough of burnt offerings of rams and the fat of fattened animals and I do not delight in the blood of bulls and ram-lambs and goats. 12 When you come to appear before me, who has required this at your hand, to trample my courts? 13 Bring no more vain offerings. Incense is an abomination to me; new moons, Sabbaths, and convocations: I can't bear with evil assemblies. 14 Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth; they are become a burden unto me; I am weary to bear them, 15 "When you spread out your hands in prayer, I will hide my eyes from you. Even though you offer many prayers, I will not listen because your hands are full of blood. 16 "Wash yourselves! Become clean! Get your evil deeds out of my sight. Stop doing evil. 17 Learn to do well—Seek justice, Correct the oppressor,—Vindicate the fatherless, Plead the cause of the widow, 18 "Come now, and let us reason together," says the LORD: "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool. 19 "If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the best from the land. 20 but if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured by the sword; for the mouth of the LORD has spoken it." 21 How the faithful city has become a harlot! She who was full of justice! Righteousness lodged in her, but now murderers. 22 Your silver has become dross; your wine is diluted with water. 23 Your princes are rebels and companions of thieves. Every one loves a bribe and runs after gifts. They do not defend the orphan and the legal dispute of the widow does not come before them. 24 Therefore the Lord, the LORD of hosts, the Mighty One of Israel, says: "Ah, I will get relief from my adversaries, and avenge myself of my enemies; 25 And I will turn my hand upon you, and thoroughly purge away your dross, and take away all your tin: 26 And I will restore your judges as at first, and your counselors as at the beginning; afterwards you shall be called the city of righteousness, the faithful city. 27 Zion will be redeemed with justice and her converts with righteousness. 28 But the destruction of rebels and sinners shall be together, and those who forsake the LORD will perish. 29 For you will be ashamed of the oaks in which you delighted, and you will be disgraced because of the gardens that you have chosen. 30 You will be like an oak whose leaves wither and like a garden without water. 31 The strong will be like tinder, and his work like a spark. They will both burn together, and no one will quench them.”

Exodus 20:5

5 You shall not bow down to them in worship or serve them; because I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the iniquity of the parents, to the third and fourth generations of those who hate me,

Psalms 23:1-6

1 A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. 3 He restores my soul; He guides me in paths of righteousness for His name's sake. 4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me, even in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

Psalms 91:1-16

1 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust." 3 Surely He will deliver you from the fowler's trap and from the destroying plague. 4 He will cover you with his feathers. Under his wings you will take refuge. His faithfulness is your shield and rampart. 5 You shall not fear the terror of night, of the arrow that flies by day; 6 for the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor for the destruction that wastes at noonday. 7 A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it will not come near you. 8 You will only look with your eyes, and see the punishment of the wicked. 9 For thou, O the LORD, my trust; thou didst set the Most High thy refuge. 10 No harm will befall you, and no plague will come near your tent. 11 For he will command his angels concerning you, to watch over you in all your ways. 12 they will bear you up in their hands, so that you won't dash your foot against a stone. 13 You will tread upon the lion and the viper. You will trample the young lion and the serpent underfoot. 14 Because he loves me, therefore I will deliver him; I will protect him because he knows my name. 15 He will call upon me and I will answer him. I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him and honor him. 16 With long life will I satisfy him, and show him my salvation.

Ezekiel 18:20

20 The soul that sins, it will die. The son will not bear the iniquity of the father, nor will the father bear the iniquity of the son. The righteousness of a righteous man will be upon him and the wickedness of a wicked man will be upon him.

2 Timothy 2:22-26

22 Flee the lusts of youth; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 23 Don't have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know that they produce quarrels. 24 And the Lord's servant must not be quarrelsome, but he must be kind to everyone, able to teach, patient when wronged, 25 He must gently reprove those who oppose him, in the hope that God may grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth. 26 And that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.

Philippians 3:16

16 Only let us live up to what we have already attained.

1 Thessalonians 4:11-12

11 Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands, just as we told you, 12 so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anyone.

Titus 3:1-3

1 Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do every good work, 2 to speak evil of no one, to be peaceable and gentle, and to show true humility toward all men. 3 For at one time we too were foolish, disobedient, misled, enslaved to all sorts of desires and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

Galatians 5:16-17

16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh craves what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are opposed to one another, so that you do not do what you want.

Galatians 5:15

15 But if you keep on biting and devouring each other, watch out, or you will be consumed by each other.
