Acts 6:1-15

1 Now in those days, the number of the disciples being multiplied, there was a murmuring of the Hellenists against the Hebrews that their widows were neglected in the daily distribution. 2 Wherefore the twelve having called together the multitude of the disciples said, It is not proper that we should leave the word of God to attend tables: 3 look out therefore, brethren, from among yourselves seven men of good reputation, full of a holy spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint to this office. 4 And as for us, we will continue in the constant exercise of prayer, and in the ministration of the word. 5 And this speech pleased the whole multitude. So they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and a holy spirit, and Philip and Prochorus and Nicanor and Timon and Parmenias and Nicholas a proselyte of Antioch, 6 whom they set before the apostles, who having prayed, laid their hands on them. 7 So the word of God spread, and the number of disciples was greatly multiplied in Jerusalem, and a great multitude of the priests became obedient to the faith. 8 Now Stephen being full of faith and power performed miracles and great signs among the people, 9 and there arose some of the synagogue of the Libertini, as it was called, and of the Cyrenians and Alexandrians, and of those of Cilicia and Asia, who disputed with Stephen; 10 but not being able to withstand the wisdom and spirit with which he spoke, 11 they suborned men to say, We heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and against God. 12 And having stirred up the people and the elders and the Scribes, they came upon him and seized him, and brought him to the Sanhedrim, 13 and set up false witnesses, who said, This man is incessantly speaking blasphemous words against this holy place and the law; 14 for we heard him saying that Jesus the Nazarene will destroy this place and change the customs which Moses delivered to us. 15 And all who sat in the Sanhedrim, looking stedfastly at him, beheld his countenance, like the countenance of an angel.

Revelation 1:1-20

1 A REVELATION of Jesus Christ, which God gave him, to shew to his servants things which must shortly come to pass, and which he sent by his angel, and signified to his servant John, 2 who hath testified the word of God, and the testimony of Jesus Christ, and what he saw. 3 Happy he who readeth, and they who hear the words of this prophecy; and keep the things that are written therein! For the time is at hand! 4 John to the seven congregations which are in Asia; favour be to you, and peace from him who is, and who was, and who is to come; and from the seven spirits which are before his throne; 5 and from Jesus Christ who is the faithful witness, the first born from the dead, and the sovereign of the kings of the earth. To him who hath loved us, and washed us from our sins with his blood, 6 and made us kings and priests to God, even his father to him be the glory and dominion for the ages of the ages. Amen. 7 Behold he is coming with clouds, and every eye shall see him, even they who pierced him; and for him all the tribes of the earth shall mourn. Yes, be it so. 8 "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end," saith the Lord, "who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty." 9 I John, who am your brother, and a partaker in this affliction, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the island which is called Patmos, on the account of the word of God and of the testimony of Jesus Christ. 10 I was in the spirit on the Lord's day, and I heard behind me a loud voice, like the sound of a trumpet, 11 saying, "I am the Alpha and the Omega; the first and the last," and "what thou seest, write in a book, and send it to the seven congregations which are in Asia, to Ephesus and to Smyrna, and to Pergamus, and to Thyatira, and to Sardis, and to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea." 12 Whereupon I turned to look towards the voice which spake to me; and upon turning about, I saw seven golden candlesticks, 13 and in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks one like a son of man, clothed with a robe down to the feet, and girded about the breast with a golden girdle; 14 and as for his head, the hairs like wool were glittering white as snow, and his eyes were like a flame of fire; 15 and his feet were like fine brass, as if they were glowing in a furnace; and his voice was like the sound of many waters. 16 And he had in his right hand seven stars; and out of his mouth went a sharp two edged sword. And his countenance was like the sun shining in its strength. 17 And when I saw him I fell at his feet as one dead. Whereupon he laid his right hand on me, and said to me, "Fear not. I am the first and the last, 18 even he who liveth. Though I was dead yet behold I am alive, and live for the ages of the ages, Amen. And I have the keys of the mansion of the dead, and of death. 19 Write what thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which are about to be hereafter. 20 With respect to the hidden meaning of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks; the seven stars are the angels of the seven congregations and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven congregations. 21 for prophecy was not uttered in former days at the will of man; but the holy men of God spoke by an impulse of the holy spirit.

Leviticus 6:2-7

2 With regard to the person who shall sin, and who, utterly disregarding the commands of the Lord, shall lie to his neighbour touching a deposit, or touching any thing which he might use in common, or touching any thing made a prey of, whether he hath defrauded his neighbour in any respect, 3 or hath found what was lost, and shall lie concerning it; or hath sworn falsely in respect to any of the things which he may have done, so as thereby to commit sin; 4 when he who hath thus sinned and transgressed hath restored the thing wrongfully taken, or that which he hath got unjustly, or the deposit which was committed to his trust, or the thing lost which he hath found; 5 then for every thing about which he hath sworn falsely he shall pay as a fine to the same amount, and add thereto a fifth. To him whose it is he shall make restoration on the day he is convicted. 6 And when for his trespass he shall bring for the Lord a ram from the flock without blemish, thou must fine him to the amount of his trespass. 7 Then the priest shall make atonement for him before the Lord; and he shall be forgiven for every of those things which he hath done, and by which he hath trespassed.

Matthew 25:14-28

14 For he is like a man who, intending to travel, called his servants and committed to them his effects, 15 and to one gave five talents and to another two, and to another one; to every one according to his respective ability, and straightway set out on his journey. 16 Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and made five other talents; 17 and in like manner he who had received the two gained also other two; 18 but he who received the one went and digged a hole in the ground and hid his master's money: 19 and after a long time the master of these servants cometh and reckoneth with them: 20 whereupon he who had received the five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Sir, thou deliveredst to me five talents, here are besides them five other talents, which I have gained: 21 and his master said to him; "Well done, good and faithful servant, thou hast been faithful in a small trust, I will give thee a much greater; enter into the joy of thy master:" 22 then he who had received the two talents came and said, Sir, thou deliveredst to me two talents, here are, besides them, two other talents, which I have gained: 23 his master said to him, Well done, good and faithful servant, thou hast been faithful in a small trust, I will give thee a much greater, enter thou into the joy of thy master: 24 then he, who had received the one talent, came and said, Sir, I knew that thou art a hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou didst not scatter; so, 25 being afraid, I went and hid thy talent in the earth. Here it is. Thou hast what is thine own. 26 Thereupon his master said to him in reply, Malignant and slothful servant! Thou knowest that I reap where I did not sow, and gather where I did not scatter! 27 Thou shouldst therefore have lodged my money with the bankers, that at my return I might have received mine own with interest. 28 Take therefore the talent from him; and give it to him who hath the ten talents.
