Luke 12:47

47 Now that servant who knew his master's will, and did not keep himself ready, nor act agreeably to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes;

Matthew 24:13

13 But he who persevereth to the end shall be saved.

Luke 14:28

28 Which of you, intending to build a tower, doth not first sit down and calculate the cost, to know whether he hath sufficient to finish it?

Matthew 24:42

42 Watch therefore, because you know not at what season your lord cometh.

Luke 21:9-36

9 And when you hear of wars and insurrections, be not terrified; for these things must first happen; but the end will not follow immediately. 10 Then he said to them, nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. 11 And there will be great earthquakes in divers places; and famines, and pestilences. And there will be awful sights and great signs from heaven. 12 But before all these events they will lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to synagogues and prisons, to be led before kings and governors on account of my name. 13 But this will give scope for your testimony. 14 Therefore settle it in your minds not to premeditate what defence you shall make. 15 For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to contradict or withstand. 16 You will indeed be delivered up by parents, and brothers, and kinsmen, and friends. And some of you will be put to death. 17 And on the account of my name you will be hated by all. 18 But not a hair of your head shall be lost. 19 By your perseverance preserve your lives; 20 and when you see Jerusalem encompassed by armies, then know that its desolation is near. 21 Then let them who are in Judea flee to the mountains, and let them who are in the midst of this [city] withdraw; and let not them who are in the regions enter it. 22 Because these are days of vengeance that all which are written may be accomplished; 23 alas therefore for the women with child and for them who give suck in those days; for there will be great distress in this land and wrath on this people. 24 They shall fall by the edge of the sword, and be led captives to all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trampled down by nations until the times of nations shall be fulfilled. 25 There will indeed be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth, anguish of desponding nations, while the sea is roaring and the billows thereof; 26 and men are fainting with fear and apprehension of the things which are coming on the world. For the powers of heaven will be shaken, 27 and they shall then see the son of man coming in a cloud, with power and great glory. 28 Now when these things begin to come to pass, look up and lift up your heads, for your deliverance is drawing near. 29 Then he said to them by way of parable, View that fig tree and all the trees. 30 When they now begin to shoot forth; upon seeing them you know of yourselves that the summer is now near; 31 so when you see these things coming to pass, know also that the reign of God is at hand. 32 Verily I say to you, this generation shall not pass till they are all accomplished. 33 The heaven and the earth will pass away, but my words shall not pass away. 34 Take heed therefore to yourselves that your hearts be not overloaded with excess of meat, or drink, or worldly cares, and that day come upon you unawares. 35 For it will come as a net upon all who are settled on the face of the whole earth 36 Watch therefore, on every occasion, praying that you may be accounted worthy to escape all these things which will soon come to pass; and to stand before the son of man.

Proverbs 16:1-33

1 [Omitted] 2 All the works of the humble are manifest in the sight of God; but the wicked shall perish in an evil day. 3 [Omitted] 4 [Omitted] 5 Every lofted minded man is impure in the sight of God: and he who hath joined hand to hand unjustly shall not go unpunished. 6 [Omitted] 7 The beginning of a good way is to do things just and acceptable in the sight of God, rather than to offer sacrifices. 8 He who seeketh the Lord shall find knowledge with righteousness. And they who seek him early shall find peace. 9 All the works of the Lord are with righteousness: but the wicked is kept for an evil day. 10 Divine sentence is in the mouth of a king: therefore his mouth should not err in judgment. 11 Justice is that which turneth the scales with the Lord. And his works are of just weight. 12 An evil doer is an abomination to a king: for the throne of government is established by righteousness. 13 Righteous lips are acceptable to a king; and he loveth right words. 14 The wrath of a king is a messenger of death: but a wise man can pacify it. 15 The son of a king is in the light of life: and they who are acceptable to him are as an evening cloud. 16 The productions of wisdom are better than gold: and the productions of prudence are better than silver. 17 The paths of life turn aside from evils: and the ways of righteousness are length of life. He who receiveth instruction shall enjoy good: and he who regardeth reproofs shall be wise. He who watcheth his own ways preserveth his soul: and he who loveth his life will be sparing of his mouth. 18 Pride goeth before destruction: and a haughty spirit before a fall. 19 A man of a gentle spirit with humility is better than he who divideth spoils with scorners. 20 A man intelligent in business is an inventer of good things: but most happy is he whose trust is in God. 21 The wise and prudent are called crafty; and they who are sweet in discourse will be more listened to. 22 Understanding is a fountain of life to them who possess it: but the instruction of fools is evil. 23 The heart of a wise man will consider the words of his mouth: and on his lips he will carry knowledge. 24 Good words are a honey comb: and the sweetness thereof is health to the soul. 25 There are ways which seem right to a man: but the latter ends of them look to the bottom of Hades. 26 A man by labour laboureth for himself; and wardeth off his own destruction. 27 He who is utterly perverse carrieth destruction in his mouth. A man void of understanding diggeth up evils for himself; and treasureth up fire with his lips. 28 A froward man spreadeth mischief. He will light up a lamp of deceit for evils; and he separateth them who were friends. 29 The man who is a transgressor enticeth friends; and leadeth them in ways which are not good. 30 But he who fixeth his eyes and deviseth froward things; and with his month enforceth all his evil purposes; is a very furnace of wickedness. 31 Old age is a crown of glory, when found in the ways of righteousness. 32 A man who is slow to wrath is better than the mighty; and he who subdueth anger is better than he who taketh a city, 33 All things come upon the wicked into their bosoms: but from the Lord all things which are just.

John 16:33

33 These things I have spoken to you, that you may have peace in me. In this world you will have trouble; but take courage: I have overcome the world.

Romans 12:1-2

1 therefore I exhort you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living, holy, acceptable sacrifice to God as your rational, religious service; 2 and be not conformed to this world; but transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may know experimentally what the will of God is, which is good and acceptable and perfect.

Romans 13:11

11 Furthermore, as we know the season, that it is now high time for us to rouse from sleep, for our deliverance is nearer now than when we first believed:

Proverbs 6:6-8

6 Go to the ant, thou sluggard; and having seen its ways follow the example and be wiser than it. 7 For having no cultivated field, no driver, nor master, 8 it provideth its food in summer, and layeth up a plentiful supply in harvest. Or go to the bee and learn what a Worker she is: and how seriously she performeth her work, to the labours of which both kings and subjects apply themselves as far as health permits; and to all it is agreeable and honourable. And though her strength be small, having honoured wisdom she is diligently employed.

Proverbs 22:3

3 A prudent man seeing the wicked severely punished instructeth himself: but the foolish passed heedlessly by and were punished.

Matthew 25:1-46

1 Now with respect to this, the reign of the heavens may be compared to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 2 And five of them were prudent and five foolish. 3 They who were foolish took their lamps, but did not take oil with them. 4 But the prudent took oil in their vessels with their lamps. 5 And while the bridegroom tarried they all became drowsy and fell asleep. 6 And at midnight there was a cry, Behold the bridegroom is coming; Go out and meet him. 7 Then all the virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. 8 And the foolish said to the prudent, Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out. 9 In reply to which the prudent said, Perhaps there will not be enough for us and you. Therefore go rather to them who sell, and buy for yourselves. 10 And while they were going to buy, the bridegroom came, and they who were ready went in with him to the wedding, and the door was shut. 11 And after that the other virgins came, saying, Master, master, Open to us. 12 But he in reply, said, Verily I say to you, I do not know you. 13 Watch therefore, because you do not know the day, nor the hour, when the son of man cometh. 14 For he is like a man who, intending to travel, called his servants and committed to them his effects, 15 and to one gave five talents and to another two, and to another one; to every one according to his respective ability, and straightway set out on his journey. 16 Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and made five other talents; 17 and in like manner he who had received the two gained also other two; 18 but he who received the one went and digged a hole in the ground and hid his master's money: 19 and after a long time the master of these servants cometh and reckoneth with them: 20 whereupon he who had received the five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Sir, thou deliveredst to me five talents, here are besides them five other talents, which I have gained: 21 and his master said to him; "Well done, good and faithful servant, thou hast been faithful in a small trust, I will give thee a much greater; enter into the joy of thy master:" 22 then he who had received the two talents came and said, Sir, thou deliveredst to me two talents, here are, besides them, two other talents, which I have gained: 23 his master said to him, Well done, good and faithful servant, thou hast been faithful in a small trust, I will give thee a much greater, enter thou into the joy of thy master: 24 then he, who had received the one talent, came and said, Sir, I knew that thou art a hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou didst not scatter; so, 25 being afraid, I went and hid thy talent in the earth. Here it is. Thou hast what is thine own. 26 Thereupon his master said to him in reply, Malignant and slothful servant! Thou knowest that I reap where I did not sow, and gather where I did not scatter! 27 Thou shouldst therefore have lodged my money with the bankers, that at my return I might have received mine own with interest. 28 Take therefore the talent from him; and give it to him who hath the ten talents. 29 For to every one who improveth more shall be given, and he shall abound; but from him who improveth not, even what he hath shall be taken away: 30 and turn out this unprofitable servant into outer darkness; weeping and gnashing of teeth will be there. 31 So when the son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him; he will then sit on the throne of his glory. 32 And before him shall be assembled all the nations. And he will separate them one from another, as a shepherd separateth the sheep from the goats. 33 And he will place the sheep on the right hand and the goats on his left. 34 Then the king will say to them on his right, Come ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom which hath been prepared for you from the formation of the world: 35 for I was hungry, and you gave me food; I was thirsty, and you gave me drink; I was a stranger, and you lodged me; 36 naked, and you clothed me; sick, and you took care of me; I was in prison, and you visited me. 37 Then the righteous will answer him, saying, Lord, when did we see thee hungry, and feed thee; or thirsty, and give thee drink? 38 When saw we thee a stranger, and lodged thee; or naked, and clothed thee? 39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came to thee? 40 And the king in reply will say to them, Verily I say to you, Inasmuch as you have done this to one of these my brethren, even the least, you have done it to me. 41 Then he will say to them on his left, Depart from me, ye cursed, into the fire which is everlasting; that prepared for the devil and his angels! 42 For I was hungry, and you gave me no food; I was thirsty, and you gave me no drink; 43 I was a stranger, and you did not lodge me; naked, and you did not clothe me; sick, and in prison, and you did not visit me. 44 Then they also will answer him, saying, Lord, when did we see thee hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister to thee? 45 And he will answer them, saying, Verily I say to you, Inasmuch as you have not done this to any, the least of these, you have not done it to me. 46 So these shall go to everlasting punishment and the righteous to an everlasting life.

Matthew 24:44

44 Be ye therefore ready prepared, because the son of man cometh at an hour you least expect.

Luke 21:36

36 Watch therefore, on every occasion, praying that you may be accounted worthy to escape all these things which will soon come to pass; and to stand before the son of man.

1 Peter 3:15

15 but sanctify the Lord in your hearts" and be always prepared, in answer to every one who demandeth of you a reason for the hope which is in you, to make a defence with meekness and fear,

Proverbs 24:27

27 Prepare thy works for the time of going out, and be in complete preparation for the field and come after me; then thou shalt build thyself a house.
