⁸ Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are venerable, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are friendly, whatsoever things are reputable, if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think of these things,

¹⁸ Flee fornication. Every other sin, which a man committeth, is without the body; but he who committeth whoredom sinneth against his own body.

¹⁹ Now the works of the flesh are manifest"they are these"adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, ²⁰ idolatry, fascinations, enmities, strifes, emulations, .animosities, contentions, factions, sects, ²¹ envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and the like, of which I forewarn you, as I have indeed before declared that they who practise such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God: ²² But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, gentleness, goodness, faithfulness, ²³ meekness, temperance; against such things there is no law. ²⁴ Now they who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. ²⁵ If we live by spirit let us walk by spirit.

⁹ Do you not know that the unjust shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor the voluptuous, nor sodomites,

¹³ Meats are for the belly, and the belly for meats! But God will put a stop to the operation of both; But as for the body, it is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body:

⁴ Whosoever committeth sin, committeth a violation of law; for sin is a violation of law. ⁵ Now, you know that he was manifested to take away our sins, and there is no sin in him. ⁶ Whosoever abideth in him doth not sin: whosoever continueth to sin hath not seen him, nor known him. ⁷ Children, let no one deceive you. He who practiseth righteousness is righteous, as he is righteous. ⁸ He who practiseth sin is of the devil, because the devil sinneth from the beginning; for this [purpose] the son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. ⁹ Whosoever is born of God doth not practise sin, because his seed abideth in him, and he cannot sin because he is born of God. ¹⁰ By this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil. Whosoever doth not practise righteousness is not of God, nor he who doth not love his brother.

¹⁴ But every one is tempted by his own desire, when allured and ensnared. ¹⁵ In that case desire having conceived, bringeth forth sin, and sin, when grown up, produceth death.

³⁷ Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; keep me alive in thy way.

¹³ No trial hath come upon you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, and will not suffer you to be tried above your strength, but will with the trial make a way to escape, that you may be able to bear it.

⁴ Let marriage be held in esteem by all, and its bed be undefiled: for whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.

¹⁶ For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the desire of the eyes, and the pomp of this life are not of the Father, but are of the world.

¹⁸ Flee fornication. Every other sin, which a man committeth, is without the body; but he who committeth whoredom sinneth against his own body. ¹⁹ Do you not know that your body is a temple of a holy spirit in you, which you have from God? Indeed you are not your own; ²⁰ for you have been bought with a price. Therefore glorify God with your body and with your spirit which are his.

²⁸ But I say to you, whoever looketh on a married woman so as to lust after her, hath already committed adultery with her in his heart.
