27 Then Moses said to them, Thus saith the Lord the God of Israel, Gird ye every man his sword on his thigh and pass through and wheel about from gate to gate through the camp and slay every man his brother and every man his neighbour and every one him who is nearest of kin to him. 28 And the children of Levi did as Moses spoke to them and there fell of the people that day about three thousand men.
