John 8:1-11

1 As for Jesus, he went to the mount of olives, 2 and early in the morning he came, again to the temple, and all the people came to him. And when he had taken a seat, and was teaching them, 3 the Scribes and the Pharisees bring to him a woman caught in adultery; and, having set her in the midst, 4 they say to him, Teacher, this woman was caught in the very act of adultery. 5 Now Moses in the law hath commanded us that such be stoned. What therefore .dost thou say? 6 This they said to try him, that they might have matter for accusing him. Thereupon Jesus stooped down and wrote with his finger on the ground. 7 And as they continued asking him, he raised himself up, and said to them, Let him among you who is without sin throw the first stone at her. 8 Then he stooped down again and wrote on the ground. 9 But they who heard, being convicted by their own conscience, went out, one by one, the eldest first, even to the last, and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. 10 When Jesus raised himself up, and saw none but the woman, he said to her, Woman, where are thine accusers? Hath no one passed sentence on thee? 11 And she said, No one, Sir. Then Jesus said to her, Neither do I pass sentence on thee. Go and sin no more.
