Bible verses about "doorkeeper" | Thomson

2 Peter 3:10

10 Now the day of the Lord will come, as a thief at night, when the heavens with a crashing roar shall pass away, and the elements shall be dissolved by fire, and the earth, and all the works thereon, shall be burned up.

1 Peter 4:9

9 Be hospitable to one another without grudging.

John 10:1-42

1 Verily, verily, I say to you, He who entereth not by the door into the fold of the sheep, but climbeth over some other way, is a thief and a robber: 2 but he who goeth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 To him the doorkeeper openeth and the sheep hearken to his voice; and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. 4 And when he hath brought out his own sheep, he goeth before them and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. 5 They will not follow a stranger, but will flee from him, because they do not know the voice of strangers. 6 This parable Jesus spake to them, but they did not comprehend the meaning of what he said to them, 7 therefore Jesus said to them again, Verily, verily I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. 8 All that have come in my stead, are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hearken to them. 9 I am the door. If any enter in by me, it shall be safe, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. 10 The thief cometh only to steal and to kill and to destroy. I am come that the sheep may have life and that they may have it superabundantly. 11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd exposeth his life for the sheep. 12 But the hireling, who is not the shepherd, and to whom the sheep do not belong, when he seeth the wolf coming leaveth the sheep and fleeth; and the wolf seizeth some and scattereth the sheep. 13 The hireling fleeth because he is a hireling and careth not for the sheep. 14 I am the good shepherd and I know mine own sheep, and am known by them who are mine, 15 even as the father knoweth me, and I know the father; and I lay down my life for the sheep. 16 Now I have other sheep which are not of this fold. These also I must lead; they will hearken to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd. 17 On this account the father loveth me, because I lay down my life so that I may take it again. 18 No one forceth it from me; but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commission I have received from my father. 19 Upon this there was another division among the Jews, on account of these sayings. 20 And many of them said, He is possessed by a demon, and is mad, Why do you. hearken to him? 21 Others said, These are not the words of a demoniac. Can a demon open the eyes of the blind? 22 When they were celebrating the dedication festival at Jerusalem, and it was stormy weather; 23 and Jesus was walking in the temple in Solomon's portico; 24 the Jews again came around him, and said to him, How long dost thou keep us in suspense? If thou art the Christ, tell us plainly: 25 Jesus answered them, I told you but you do not believe. The works which I do in my father's name these testify concerning me. 26 But you do not believe, for you are not of my sheep. 27 My sheep, as I told you, hearken to my voice and I know them, and they follow me: 28 and I give them everlasting life; and they shall never perish, nor shall any one wrest them out of my hand. 29 My father who gave them to me, is greater than all, and none is able to wrest them out of my father's hand. 30 I and my father are one. 31 Hereupon the Jews again took up stones to stone him. 32 Jesus addressed them, I have shewn you many good works from my father, for which of those works would you stone me?" 33 The Jews answered him saying, For a good work we are not about to stone thee, but for blasphemy, even because thou, being a man, makest thyself God. 34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law "I said you are Gods." 35 If it stileth them gods to whom the word of God was addressed, [now the scripture cannot be set aside] 36 do you say of me, whom the father hath consecrated and sent into the world, "Thou blasphemest," because I said, I am the son of God? 37 If I do not the works of my father, believe me not. 38 But if I do; though you do not believe me, believe the works; that you may know and believe that the father is in me, and I in him. 39 Upon this they again sought to seize him. But he withdrew out of their hands, 40 and went again to the bank of the Jordan; to the place where John baptized at first, and abode there. 41 And many resorted to him and said, John indeed wrought no miracle; but all that John said respecting this man is true. 42 And many there believed in him.

Psalms 84:10

10 Because one day in thy courts is better than a thousand; I had rather be in an abject state in the house of God, than dwell in the tents of sinners.
