²⁵ If thou lend money to thy brother, who is near thee and in want; thou shalt not be rigorous with him, nor charge him interest. ²⁶ And if thou hast taken the mantle of thy neighbour as a pledge, thou shalt restore it to him before the setting of the sun; ²⁷ for it is his covering. This mantle is the only covering of his nakedness. In what can he sleep? If therefore he cry to me, I will hear him; for I am merciful.

¹² The Lord open for thee his good treasury, the heaven, to give thy land the rain in due season. May he bless all the works of thy hands, so that thou mayst lend to many nations, and not borrow of them;

²⁰ A desirable treasure will rest in the mouth of the wise: but men who are foolish will swallow it.

³³ But seek first the kingdom of God, and the righteousness required by him, and all those things will be superadded to you.

¹⁰ He who is faithful in very little, is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in very little, is unjust also in much.

¹³ No trial hath come upon you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, and will not suffer you to be tried above your strength, but will with the trial make a way to escape, that you may be able to bear it.

²² A good man shall leave an inheritance to his children; but the wealth of the wicked is treasured up for the righteous.

²⁶ Do not out of respect for a person become surety.

²⁴ No man can serve two masters: for he will either hate one and love the other; or he will attend to one and neglect the other. You cannot serve God and a worldly temperent

¹¹ If you then were not faithful with this unjust worldly prudence who will entrust to you the true?

⁶ Be anxious about nothing; but on all occasions, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; ⁷ and the peace of God, which surpasseth all understanding, will keep your hearts and your minds safe in Christ Jesus.

⁸ Now if any one doth not provide for his own, and especially for those of his family, he hath renounced his belief, and is worse than an infidel.

²⁸ Which of you, intending to build a tower, doth not first sit down and calculate the cost, to know whether he hath sufficient to finish it?

²¹ The sinner borroweth and will not repay; but the righteous sheweth mercy and giveth.

⁸ Owe no one any thing, save this, to love one another: for he who loveth others hath fulfilled the law:

⁷ Render therefore to all their dues; tribute to whom tribute; custom to whom custom; reverence to whom reverence; honour to whom honour is due.

⁷ The rich rule over the poor; though servants lend to their own masters.
