¹³ and let us walk as in day light, in a becoming manner; not in revels and drunken debauches; not in dalliance and wantonness; not in strife and envy;

¹³ No trial hath come upon you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, and will not suffer you to be tried above your strength, but will with the trial make a way to escape, that you may be able to bear it.

²¹ my God humble me when I come to you again, and I cause many of those who have sinned, and have not begun a reformation, to grieve for the impurity, and fornication, and lasciviousness which they have committed.

⁷ As Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them, which, in like manner with them, abandoned themselves to licentiousness, and went after strange flesh, were made an example of, suffering the vengeance of everlasting fire;

³⁰ False are allurements, and vain the beauty of a wife. For a woman of understanding is blessed. Let her therefore praise the fear of the Lord.

¹⁹ Now the works of the flesh are manifest"they are these"adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, ²⁰ idolatry, fascinations, enmities, strifes, emulations, .animosities, contentions, factions, sects, ²¹ envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and the like, of which I forewarn you, as I have indeed before declared that they who practise such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God:

² but to avoid fornication let every man have his own wife; and every woman her own husband.

⁵ Mortify, therefore, with regard to your members which are on earth, fornication, uncleanness, inordinate passions, wicked desire, and that licentiousness, which is idolatry,

⁷ and after these things his master's wife cast her eyes on Joseph and said, Lie with me; ⁸ but he refused and said to his master's wife, Seeing my lord, on account of his confidence in me, knoweth not any thing in his house, and hath committed to my charge all that he hath ⁹ and there is none in the family superior to me, nor any thing withheld from me, except thyself because thou art his wife; how then can I do this wicked act and commit sin in the presence of God. ¹⁰ And when she had spoken to Joseph day after day and he hearkened not to her to lie down with her to have commerce with her,

¹⁹ Do you not know that your body is a temple of a holy spirit in you, which you have from God? Indeed you are not your own;

¹¹ beloved; I beseech you as strangers and sojourners to abstain from carnal lusts, which war against the soul:

¹⁸ Flee fornication. Every other sin, which a man committeth, is without the body; but he who committeth whoredom sinneth against his own body.

²² Fly then the passions of youth and pursue righteousness, fidelity, love, peace with them who invoke the Lord with a pure heart.

⁴ Let marriage be held in esteem by all, and its bed be undefiled: for whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.

³ for this is the will of God even your sanctification, that you abstain from fornication; ⁴ that every one of you know how to use his own vessel in sanctification and honour;
