1 Corinthians 6:20
Matthew 4:1-11
1 (3:4) Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness, to be tempted by the devil.
2 And having fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterwards hungry.
3 And the tempter came and said to him, If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become bread.
4 And he answered and said; It is written, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word which proceeds from the mouth of God.
5 Then the devil took him into the holy city, and placed him on the pinnacle of the temple,
6 and said to him, If you are the Son of God, cast yourself down; for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning you, and they shall take you up on their hands, lest at any time you dash your foot against a stone.
7 Jesus said to him, Again it is written, You shall not try the Lord your God.
8 Again the devil took him away on a very high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world, and their glory,
9 and said to him, All these things will I give you, if you will fall down and worship me.
10 Then Jesus said to him, Get behind me Satan; for it is written, You shall worship the Lord your God, and him only shall you serve.
11 Then the devil left him; and behold angels came and waited on him.
Luke 21:34
34 Take heed to yourselves, that your hearts be not oppressed with revelling and drunkenness, and worldly cares, and that day come upon you suddenly;
1 Corinthians 7:35
35 But I say this for your own profit; not to impose a snare on you, but for [your] honor, and [your] attending on the Lord without distraction.
Luke 10:38-42
38 (15:3) And as they were pursuing their journey he entered into a certain village. And a woman by the name of Martha received him into her house.
39 And she had a sister called Mary, and she sat at the feet of the Lord and heard his word.
40 But Martha was distracted with much serving, and came and said, Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her, therefore, to help me.
41 And the Lord answered and said to her, Martha, Martha, you are anxious and disturbed about many things,
42 but of one thing there is need; and Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
1 Corinthians 10:13
13 For no trial has befallen you but what is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not permit you to be tried beyond what you are able, but with the trial will order the event, that you may be able to endure.
