Bible verses about "contentment" | Sawyer

Matthew 6:19-24

19 (5:9) Lay not up for yourselves treasures on the earth, where a moth and corrosion destroy, and where thieves dig through and steal. 20 But lay up treasures for yourselves in heaven, where neither a moth nor corrosion destroys, and where thieves dig not through nor steal; 21 for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. 22 (5:10) The light of the body is the eye. If, therefore, your eye is sound, your whole body will be light; 23 but if your eye is evil, your whole body will be dark. If, therefore, the light which is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness! 24 No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the first, and love the other, or he will adhere to the first, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and riches.

Luke 12:15

15 And he said to them, See, and beware of all covetousness; for one's life depends not on the abundance of his property.

2 Corinthians 12:10

10 Most gladly, therefore, will I glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Wherefore I am well pleased with infirmities, with injuries, with necessities, with persecutions, with distresses for Christ; for when I am weak, then am I strong.

1 Corinthians 7:17

17 (3:4) Unless as the Lord has imparted to each one, as God has called each one, so let him walk; and so I appoint in all the churches.

Philippians 4:19

Matthew 6:33

33 But seek first righteousness and his kingdom, and all these things shall be added to you.

Philippians 4:11

11 Not that I speak of want; for I have learned in whatever circumstances I am to be contented.

1 Timothy 6:6-11

6 But piety with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into the world; it is clear that we can carry nothing out of it; 8 but having food and clothing let us be contented with them. 9 But those who wish to be rich fall into trial and a snare, and many foolish and injurious desires, which plunge men into destruction and perdition. 10 For the love of money is a root of all evils, which some having desired have been misled from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 11 (2:13) But do you, O man of God, avoid these things; but pursue righteousness, piety, faith, love, patience, meekness.

1 Timothy 6:6-8

6 But piety with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into the world; it is clear that we can carry nothing out of it; 8 but having food and clothing let us be contented with them.

Hebrews 13:5

5 Let your life be without avarice, and be contented with what you have; for he said, I will never leave you, I will never forsake you;

Philippians 4:11-12

11 Not that I speak of want; for I have learned in whatever circumstances I am to be contented. 12 I know both how to be humbled, and I know how to abound; in every thing and in all conditions I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer want.
