³⁸ give, and it shall be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, shall they give into your bosom. For with what measure you measure it shall be measured back to you.

⁴² Give to him that asks, and from him that would borrow of you turn not away.

^{1 (6:5)} If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels and have not love, I am a sounding brass and a tinkling cymbal. ² And if I have prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge, and if I have all faith so as to remove mountains, and have not love, I am nothing. ³ And if I deal out all my property to feed the poor, and if I deliver my body to be burned, and have not love, I shall not be profited. ^{4 (6:6)} Love suffers long and is kind; love envies not; love is not boastful, is not puffed up, ⁵ does not behave unbecomingly, seeks not her own, is not easily provoked, devises not evil, ⁶ rejoices not in wickedness, but rejoices in the truth; ⁷ bears all things, believes all things, hopes for all things, and endures all things. ^{8 (6:7)} Love never fails; but if there are prophecies, they shall pass away; if tongues, they shall cease; if knowledge, it shall pass away. ⁹ And we know in part and we prophesy in part; ¹⁰ when the perfect has come, that which is in part shall pass away. ¹¹ When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I thought as a child, I reasoned as a child; when I became a man I put away childish things. ¹² For now we see by a mirror darkly, but then we shall see face to face; now I know in part, but then I shall know fully as I also am known. ¹³ And now remain faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

² Forget not hospitality; for by this some without knowing it have entertained angels.

³³ Sell your property and bestow charity; make yourselves purses that become not old, and a treasury that fails not, in heaven, where no thief approaches, nor moth destroys;

^{1 (26:7)} And looking up he saw the rich casting their gifts into the treasury. ² And he saw also a certain poor widow cast in there two lepta [4 mills]. ³ And he said, I tell you truly, that this poor widow has cast in more than all; ⁴ for all these have cast among the gifts from their abundance; but she from her want has cast in all the living she had.

⁷ Let each one contribute as he chooses in his heart, not with regret or from necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.

¹⁷ And whoever has the goods of the world and sees his brother have need, and withholds his compassions from him, how continues the love of God in him?

^{1 (5:6)} But take heed not to perform your righteousness before men, to be seen by them; otherwise indeed, you have no reward from your Father in heaven. ² When, therefore, you give in charity, sound not a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do, in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be glorified by men. I tell you truly, they have their reward. ³ But when you give in charity let not your left hand know what your right hand does, ⁴ that your charity may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret shall reward you.

¹⁶ And forget not beneficence and liberality; for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

³⁵ I have showed you all things, that so laboring you ought to help the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.
