^{26 (23:4)} And as they were eating Jesus took the bread, and having blessed, broke and gave to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.

⁵⁵ For my flesh is the true food, and my blood is the true drink. ⁵⁶ He that eats my flesh and drinks my blood continues in me, and I in him. ⁵⁷ As the living Father sent me and I live by the Father, so he that eats me shall live by me. ⁵⁸ This is the bread which came down from heaven; not as your fathers eat and died, he that eats this bread shall live forever. ⁵⁹ These things he said in a synagogue, teaching in Capernaum.

For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who he was that would betray him. ⁶⁵ And on that account he said, I told you that no one can come to me unless it has been given him by my Father. ^{66 (9:8)} From this time many of his disciples went away from following him, and walked no more with him. ⁶⁷ Then Jesus said to the twelve Will you also go away? ⁶⁸ Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? you have words of eternal life, ⁶⁹ and we have believed and know that you are the Holy [Son] of God. ⁷⁰ He answered them, Have I not chosen you twelve? and of you one is a devil. ⁷¹ But he spoke of Judas the son of Simon Iscariot, for he was about to betray him, being one of the twelve.

³² Then Jesus said to them, I tell you most truly, Moses gave you not bread from heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread from heaven; ³³ for the bread of God is he that comes down from heaven and gives life to the world. ^{34 (9:3)} Then they said to him, Sir, always give us this bread. ³⁵ Jesus said to them, I am the bread of life; he that comes to me shall never hunger, and he that believes in me shall never thirst.
