¹³ For this reason I speak to them in parables; because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor understand. ¹⁴ And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah, which says; Hearing you shall hear and not understand, and seeing you shall see and not perceive; ¹⁵ for the hearts of this people have become hard, and they hear imperfectly with their ears, and their eyes have they closed, lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their hearts, and turn, and I should heal them. ¹⁶ But blessed are your eyes, for they see; and your ears, for they hear.

¹⁴ Let them go; they are blind guides of the blind. But if the blind lead the blind, they will both fall into the pit.

⁸ For you were formerly darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light,—

¹¹ but he that hates his brother is in darkness, and walks in darkness, and knows not where he goes, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.
