John 10:10

10 The thief comes not, except to steal, and kill, and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.

John 1:1-51

1 (1:1) IN the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 This [Word] was in the beginning with God. 3 All things existed through him, and without him not one thing existed, which existed. 4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men; 5 and the light shone in darkness, and the darkness comprehended it not. 6 (1:2) There was a man, sent by God, whose name was John. 7 This man came for a testimony, to testify of the light, that all might believe through him. 8 He was not the light, but to testify of the light. 9 The light was the true [light] which lights every man that comes into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world existed through him, and the world knew him not. 11 He came to his own, and his own received him not. 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become sons of God, to them that believe on his name, 13 who are born not of superior blood, nor of a will of the flesh, nor of a will of man, but of God. 14 (1:3) And the Word became flesh and tabernacled with us and we beheld his glory, a glory as of an only child with a father, full of grace and truth. 15 John testified of him, and cried, saying, This is the one of whom I said, He that comes after me existed before me, for he was before me. 16 For we all have received of his fullness, and grace for grace; 17 for the law was given by Moses, the grace and truth were by Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God; the only Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he declared [him]. 19 (2:1) AND this is the testimony of John, when the Jews from Jerusalem sent priests and Levites to ask him, Who are you? 20 And he confessed and denied not, and confessed, I am not the Christ. 21 And they asked him, What then? are you Elijah? And he said, I am not. Are you the prophet? And he answered, No. 22 Then they said to him, Who are you? that we may give an answer to them that sent us; what say you of yourself? 23 He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as Isaiah the prophet said. 24 (2:2) And those sent were of the Pharisees. 25 And they asked him, and said to him, Why then do you baptize, if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the prophet? 26 John answered them saying, I baptize with water; but among you stands one whom you know not. 27 He is the one coming after me, the strings of whose sandal I am not worthy to untie. 28 These things occurred in Bethany beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing. 29 (2:3) On the next day he saw Jesus coming to him, and said, Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world. 30 This is he of whom I said, After me comes a man who was before me, for he was before me. 31 And I knew him not; but that he might be made manifest to Israel, for this reason have I come baptizing with water. 32 And John testified saying, I saw the Spirit descend like a dove from heaven, and it remained on him. 33 And I knew him not, but he that sent me to baptize with water, he said to me, On whom you see the Spirit descend and remain on him, this is he that baptizes with the Holy Spirit. 34 And I have seen and testified that this is the Son of God. 35 (2:4) On the next day John was again standing, and two of his disciples, 36 and looking at Jesus as he walked, he said, Behold the Lamb of God. 37 And his two disciples heard him say this, and followed Jesus. 38 And Jesus turning around, and seeing them following, said to them, What do you seek? And they said to him, Rabbi, which interpreted signifies Teacher, where do you stay? 39 He said to them, Come and see. Then they went and saw where he staid, and staid with him that day; it was about the tenth hour. 40 Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, was one of the two who heard from John, and followed him; 41 he first found his brother Simon, and said to him, We have found the Messiah; which is interpreted, Christ [Anointed]. 42 He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looking at him said, You are Simon, the son of Jonas; you shall be called Cephas; which is interpreted, Peter [Rock]. 43 (2:5) On the next day he wished to go to Galilee, and he found Philip. And Jesus said to him, Follow me. 44 Now Philip was from Bethsaida, of the city of Andrew and Peter. 45 Philip found Nathanael, and said to him, We have found him of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, wrote, Jesus, the son of Joseph, from Nazareth. 46 And Nathanael said to him, Can any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip said to him, Come and see. 47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and said of him, See an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile. 48 Nathanael said to him, Whence do you know me? Jesus answered and said to him, Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree I saw you. 49 Nathanael answered him, Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel. 50 Jesus answered and said to him, Because I said to you I saw you under the fig tree, do you believe? You shall see greater things than these. 51 And he said to him, I tell you most truly, you shall see heaven opened and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.

James 2:1-26

1 (1:5) My brothers, have not the faith of our glorious Lord Jesus Christ with a respect of persons. 2 For if there comes into your assembly a man with a gold ring, in splendid clothing, and there also comes in a poor man in vile clothing, 3 and you look upon him who wears the splendid clothing, and say to him, Sit here in a good place, and say to the poor man, Stand there, or sit under my footstool, 4 are you not condemned in yourselves and judges of evil thoughts? 5 (1:6) Hear, my beloved brothers. Has not God chosen the poor of the world rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which he promised to those who love him? 6 But you dishonor the poor. Do not the rich oppress you and drag you to tribunals? 7 And do they not blaspheme the good name by which you are called? 8 If you keep indeed the royal law according to the Scripture, You shall love your neighbor as yourself, you do well; 9 but if you respect persons, you commit sin, convicted by the law as transgressors. 10 For whoever shall keep the whole law, and offend in one point, is guilty of all. 11 For he that said, You shall not commit adultery, said also, You shall not kill; and if you do not commit adultery, but kill, you are a transgressor of the law. 12 So speak and so do, as being about to be judged by the law of liberty. 13 For he shall have judgment without mercy who shows not mercy; mercy rejoices over judgment. 14 (1:7) What is the profit, my brothers, if a man says he has faith, but has not works? Can faith save him? 15 And if a brother or sister is naked, or destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, Go in peace, be warmed and be filled, but gives them not the necessary supplies for the body, what is the profit? 17 So also faith, if it has not works, is dead, being alone. 18 But some one will say, You have faith, and I have works; show me your faith without works, and I will show you my faith by works. 19 You believe that there is one God? You do well; demons also believe and tremble. 20 But will you know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he offered up Isaac his son on the altar? 22 You see that faith cooperated with his works, and by works was faith made perfect, 23 and the Scripture was fulfilled which says, And Abraham believed God and it was accounted to him a righteousness, and he was called God's friend. 24 You see then that a man is justified by works and not by faith only. 25 And in like manner also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she received the messengers and sent them out another way? 26 For as the body without a spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

Matthew 23:15

15 Woe to you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you compass the sea and the dry land to make one proselyte; and when he is gained you make him twice as much a child of hell as yourselves.

Matthew 23:3

3 All things therefore which they tell you, do and keep. But do not their works. For they say and do not,

John 3:16

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that every one believing in him may not perish but have eternal life.

Galatians 5:22-23

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, 23 meekness, temperance; against such there is no law.

Ephesians 4:26

26 Be angry and sin not; let not the sun go down on your wrath,

Romans 15:1-33

1 (10:4) And we, the strong, ought to bear the infirmities of those who are not strong, and not to please ourselves. 2 Let us each please our neighbor in that which is good for edification; 3 for Christ also pleased not himself, but, as it is written, The reproaches of those that reproached thee fell on me. 4 For those things which were written before were written for our instruction, that through patience and the consolation of the Scriptures we may have hope. 5 And the God of patience and consolation grant you to have the same mind one to another, according to Christ Jesus, 6 that being of one mind you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ with one mouth. 7 (10:5) Wherefore receive one another, as Christ also received you to the glory of God. 8 For I say that Christ was made a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises of the fathers, 9 and that the nations should glorify God for mercy; as it is written, For this cause will I praise thee among nations, and sing to thy name. 10 And again he says, Rejoice nations with his people. 11 And again, Praise the Lord, all nations, and let all peoples praise him. 12 And again, Isaiah says, There shall be a root of Jesse and he shall stand up to rule nations, in him shall nations hope. 13 And may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. 14 (10:6) And I am persuaded, my brothers, even I myself, concerning you, that you are full of kindness, filled with all knowledge, and able to admonish one another; 15 but I have written more boldly to you in part, to refresh your minds on account of the grace given me by God 16 that I should be a servant of Christ Jesus to the nations, administering as a priest the gospel of God, that the offering of the nations may be acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit. 17 I have therefore cause of boasting in Christ Jesus in respect to things relating to God; 18 for I dare not to speak of what Christ has not performed by me for the obedience of the nations, by word and work, 19 by the power of miracles and prodigies, by the power of the Spirit, so that from Jerusalem and around as far as Illyricum I have fully preached the gospel of Christ. 20 And I have been anxious so to preach where Christ was not named, that I might not build on another's foundation; 21 but as it is written, They shall see to whom nothing was told concerning him, and they who have not heard shall understand. 22 (10:7) Wherefore I was also much hindered from coming to you; 23 but now having no longer a place in these regions, and having a desire to come to you for many years, 24 should I go to Spain I will come to you; for I hope, going by, to see you, and to be sent forward by you there, when first I am in part filled with you. 25 But now I am going to Jerusalem to serve the saints. 26 For Macedonia and Achaia have been pleased to make some contribution for the poor of the saints at Jerusalem. 27 They have been pleased indeed, and their debtors they are; for if the nations have participated in their spiritual things, they ought also to serve them in things pertaining to the flesh. 28 Having therefore performed this, and sealed to them this service, I will go by you to Spain; 29 and I know that when I come to you I shall come in the fullness of the blessing of Christ. 30 But I exhort you by the Lord Jesus Christ, and by the love of the Spirit, to strive together with me in prayers to God for me, 31 that I may be delivered from those that obey not in Judea, and that my service which is for Jerusalem may be acceptable to the saints, 32 that I may come to you with joy by the will of God, and be refreshed together with you. 33 And may the God of peace be with you all; amen.
