¹⁶ Do you not know that you are God's temple and the Spirit of God dwells in you?

³⁴ But I tell you not to swear at all; neither by heaven, because it is God's throne; ³⁵ nor by the earth, because it is his footstool; nor by Jerusalem, because it is the city of the Great King; ³⁶ nor must you swear by your head, for you cannot make one hair white or black. ³⁷ But let your yes be yes and your no be no. Whatever is more than these is from evil.

¹² Above all things, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by the earth or by any other oath. Let your yes be yes and your no be no, that you may not fall under condemnation.

⁴ nor should there be indecent and foolish talk or jesting, which are unbecoming, but rather thanksgiving. ⁵ For you know well that no unchaste or impure person, no greedy person — who is an idolater — has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.

²⁹ Let no vile word come out of your mouth, but, if anything, a good word for needed upbuilding of character to give grace to those who hear.
