²² "Blessed are you when men hate you and when they shut you out and reproach you and cast out your name as evil because of the Son of Man!

¹⁰ Therefore I rejoice in weaknesses, in rough treatment, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong.

¹⁷ Repay to no one evil for evil. Aim at what is honorable in the sight of all men. ¹⁸ If possible, so far as depends on you, live at peace with all men. ¹⁹ Do not revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, "Vengeance is mine; I will repay, says the Lord." ²⁰ But, "if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him drink; for in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head." ²¹ Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

¹⁴ But if you should suffer for being righteous, you are blessed. Have no fear of them and do not be disturbed;

¹⁶ Keep a good conscience that, although you are slandered, those who misrepresent your good life in Christ may be put to shame.

¹³ Do not be surprised, brethren, if the world hates you.

¹⁰ "Blessed are those who have been persecuted for righteousness! For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

¹⁷ For it is better to suffer, if that should be God's will, for doing good than for doing wrong.

⁴⁴ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,

¹² Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery fury that is among you, which has come to try you, as if some strange thing were happening to you. ¹³ But rejoice since to this extent you are sharing the sufferings of Christ, that when his glory is revealed you may rejoice and exult. ¹⁴ If you are reproached for the name of Christ you are blessed, for the spirit of glory and of God rests upon you.

¹⁸ "If the world hates you, you know that it hated me before it hated you.

¹² And all who are determined to live religiously in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.
