³³ But you must seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be supplied to you.

³ Unchastity or any kind of impurity or greediness must not be mentioned among you, as befits holy people;

¹⁰ For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some men grasping for it have strayed from the faith and have pierced themselves with many pangs.

⁷ What shall we say then? Is the Law sin? Never. But I should not have come to know sin except through the Law. I should not have known lust if the Law had not said, "Thou shalt not lust."

¹⁴ Every one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own passions and enticed. ¹⁵ Then when passion has conceived it gives birth to sin, and sin, when it is full grown, gives birth to death.

²⁰ "But," he said, "what comes out of a man is what defiles him; ²¹ for from within, out of the hearts of men, come evil thoughts, unchastities, thefts, murders, ²² adulteries, lusts, wickednesses, deceit, sensuality, an evil eye, slander, arrogance, recklessness — ²³ all these had things come out from within, and they defile the man."

³ You ask and do not receive, because you ask wickedly to waste it on your pleasures.
