Bible verses about "covet" | Riverside

Matthew 6:19-21

19 "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on the earth, where moth and rust corrode and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust corrodes and where thieves do not break in nor steal. 21 For where your treasure is there will your heart be also.

Romans 13:8-10

8 Owe no one anything, except to love one another. He who loves the other has fulfilled the Law. 9 For the commandments, "Thou shalt not commit adultery," "Thou shalt not commit murder," "Thou shalt not steal," "Thou shalt not covet," and any other that there may be, are summed up in this: "Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself." 10 Love works no evil to a neighbor. Love therefore is full obedience to the Law.

1 Timothy 6:10

10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some men grasping for it have strayed from the faith and have pierced themselves with many pangs.

Luke 12:15

15 He said to them, "See to it and be on your guard against every form of covetousness, for not even when one has a superabundance is his life from the things he owns."
