¹⁴ And the soldiers likewise questioned him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said to them, Do not extort money from anyone or accuse anyone falsely; and be content with your wages.

⁴ For he is a minister of God for your good. But if you do that which is evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain: for he is a minister of God to execute wrath upon the one who does evil.

³ Therefore endure hardship, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. ⁴ No soldier on active service entangles himself with the affairs of civilian life; that he may please him who has chosen him to be a soldier.

¹¹ Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. ¹² For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against rulers, against authorities, against the powers of darkness of this world, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. ¹³ Therefore, take up the whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand on the evil day, and having done all, to stand. ¹⁴ Stand therefore, having your loins girded about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; ¹⁵ And your feet shod with the readiness that is from the gospel of peace. ¹⁶ In addition to all these, take up the shield of faith, with which you shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. ¹⁷ And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
