Bible verses about "religion" | RKJNT

John 6:50-71

50 This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that a man may eat of it and not die. 51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live forever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. 52 The Jews then argued among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat? 53 Then Jesus said to them, Truly, truly, I say to you, Unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, you have no life in you. 54 Whoever eats my flesh, and drinks my blood, has eternal life; and I will raise him up on the last day. 55 For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. 56 He who eats my flesh, and drinks my blood, dwells in me, and I in him. 57 As the living Father sent me, and I live by the Father: so he who eats me shall live because of me. 58 This is the bread which came down from heaven: not as the fathers ate manna, and died: he who eats this bread shall live forever. 59 These things he said in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum. 60 Many of his disciples, when they heard this, said, This is a hard saying; who can hear it? 61 But Jesus, knowing in himself that his disciples murmured at this, said to them, Does this offend you? 62 What then if you should see the Son of man ascend to where he was before? 63 The spirit gives life; the flesh profits nothing: the words I speak to you are spirit and life. 64 But there are some of you who do not believe. For Jesus knew from the beginning those who did not believe, and who would betray him. 65 And he said, Therefore I said to you, that no one can come to me, unless it is granted to him by the Father. 66 From that time many of his disciples drew back, and no longer walked with him. 67 Then Jesus said to the twelve, Do you also want to go away? 68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? you have the words of eternal life. 69 And we believe and have come to know that you are the Christ, the Son of the living God. 70 Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil? 71 He spoke of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for it was he, one of the twelve, who would betray him.

2 Corinthians 3:6

6 Who has also made us able ministers of a new covenant; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter kills, but the spirit gives life.

Romans 8:1-18

1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God did, sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, as an offering for sin; condemning sin in the flesh: 4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk in the ways of the flesh, but in the ways of the Spirit. 5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh; but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. 6 Now the mind set on the flesh is death; but the mind set on the spirit is life and peace. 7 Because the mind set on the flesh is hostile to God: for it is not subject to the law of God, indeed it cannot be. 8 So then those who are in the flesh cannot please God. 9 But you are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. Now if any man does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to him. 10 And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is alive because of righteousness. 11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead shall also give life to your mortal bodies by his Spirit who dwells in you. 12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, but not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. 13 For if you live according to the flesh, you shall die: but if through the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you shall live. 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God. 15 For you have not received a spirit of bondage leading to fear; but you have received the Spirit of adoption, by which we cry out, Abba, Father. 16 The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if indeed we suffer with him that we may also be glorified with him. 18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed to us.

Romans 2:6-8

6 Who will render to every man according to his deeds: 7 To those who by patience in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life: 8 But to those who are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath.

James 2:10

10 For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble at one point, is guilty of breaking it all.

Titus 3:5

5 He saved us, not because of works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing by the Holy Spirit;

Ephesians 2:8-9

8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not because of works, lest any man should boast.

Matthew 6:1-34

1 Take heed that you do not practice your righteousness before men, to be seen by them: otherwise you have no reward from your Father who is in heaven. 2 Therefore, when you give alms, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have praise from men. Truly I say to you, They have received their reward. 3 But when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing: 4 That your alms may be in secret: and your Father who sees in secret shall reward you. 5 And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and at the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Truly I say to you, They have received their reward. 6 But you, when you pray, enter into your inner room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret shall reward you. 7 But when you pray, do not use meaningless repetition, as the Gentiles do: for they think that they shall be heard for their many words. 8 Therefore, do not be like them: for your Father knows what things you have need of, before you ask him. 9 Therefore, pray in this manner: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be your name. 10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. 14 For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: 15 But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. 16 Moreover, when you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do: for they disfigure their faces, that they may be seen by men to be fasting. Truly I say to you, They have received their reward. 17 But you, when you fast, anoint your head, and wash your face; 18 That you may not be seen fasting by men, but by your Father who is in secret: and your Father, who sees in secret, shall reward you. 19 Do not lay up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal: 20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in and steal: 21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. 22 The light of the body is the eye: therefore, if your eye is sound, your whole body shall be full of light. 23 But if your eye is bad, your whole body shall be full of darkness. Therefore, if the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness! 24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. 25 Therefore I say to you, Do not be anxious about your life, what you shall eat, or what you shall drink; nor for your body, what you shall put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26 Behold the birds of the air: they do not sow, nor do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? 27 Which of you by being anxious can add one cubit to the span of his life? 28 And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they do not toil, nor do they spin: 29 And yet I say to you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Therefore, if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O men of little faith? 31 Therefore, do not be anxious, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, With what shall we be clothed? 32 After all these things the Gentiles seek: but your heavenly Father knows that you have need of all these things. 33 But seek first his kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore, do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow shall be anxious for itself. Sufficient for each day are the troubles of its own.

James 1:26

26 If any man among you thinks he is religious, but does not bridle his tongue, he deceives his own heart and his religion is in vain. 27 This is pure and undefiled religion before God the Father: To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unspotted by the world.

Mark 16:15-16

15 And he said to them, Go into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He who believes and is baptized shall be saved; but he who does not believe shall be condemned.
