⁶ Yet we do speak wisdom among those who are mature: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the rulers of this world, who are being brought to nothing: ⁷ But we speak the wisdom of God, once secret and hidden, which God ordained for our glory before the ages: ⁸ Wisdom which none of the rulers of this world understood: for had they understood it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. ⁹ But as it is written, Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor has it entered the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for those who love him. ¹⁰ But God has revealed them to us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.

²¹ For since, in the wisdom of God, the world by its wisdom did not come to know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of our preaching to save those who believe.

¹⁸ Then certain philosophers of the Epicureans, and of the Stoics, encountered him. And some said, What is this babbler trying to say? and others, He seems to be a proclaimer of strange gods: because he preached to them Jesus, and the resurrection.

¹⁶ Therefore, let no man judge you in matters of food, or drink, or regarding a festival, or a new moon, or a sabbath day: ¹⁷ Which are a shadow of things to come; but the reality belongs to Christ. ¹⁸ Let no man defraud you of your reward, delighting in self-abasement and the worship of angels, taking his stand on visions, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, ¹⁹ And not holding fast to the Head, from whom all the body, supported and knit together by its joints and ligaments, grows with a growth that is from God.

¹ And when I came to you, brethren, I did not come with lofty speech or wisdom as I declared to you the testimony of God. ² For I determined not to know anything among you, except Jesus Christ, and him crucified. ³ And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. ⁴ And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: ⁵ That your faith should not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God.

²⁰ O Timothy, guard that which has been entrusted to you. Avoid godless chatter and the contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge:

¹³ Of these things we speak, not in words taught by man's wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

⁹ But avoid foolish controversies, and genealogies, and dissensions, and wrangling about the law; for they are unprofitable and futile. ¹⁰ Reject a man who is divisive after a first and second warning;

⁸ Beware, lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, which depend on the traditions of men and the rudiments of the world, and not on Christ.
