John 11:38-44

38 Jesus, again deeply moved within himself, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it. 39 Jesus said, Take away the stone. Martha, the sister of the dead man, said to him, Lord, by this time he stinks: for he has been dead four days. 40 Jesus said to her, Did I not say to you, that, if you would believe, you would see the glory of God? 41 Then they took away the stone. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank you that you have heard me. 42 And I knew that you always hear me: but because of the people who stand here I said it, that they may believe that you have sent me. 43 And when he had said this, he cried out with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. 44 And the dead man came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, Unbind him, and let him go.

John 12:1

1 Six days before the passover Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, whom Jesus raised from the dead.

Luke 16:19-31

19 There was a certain rich man, who was clothed in purple and fine linen, and feasted sumptuously every day: 20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, who was laid at his gate, covered with sores, 21 And he longed to eat the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores. 22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; 23 And in Hades he lift up his eyes, being in torment, and saw Abraham far off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24 And he cried out, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. 25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and Lazarus received evil things: but now he is comforted, and you are tormented. 26 And beside all this, between us and you a great gulf has been fixed: so that those who would pass from here to you cannot; nor can any pass over from there to us. 27 He said, Then I beg you, father, that you would send him to my father's house: 28 For I have five brothers. Have him warn them, lest they also come into this place of torment. 29 Abraham said to him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. 30 And he said, No, father Abraham: but if someone went to them from the dead, they will repent. 31 And he said to him, If they will not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if someone rises from the dead.

John 11:1-14

1 Now a certain man named Lazarus was sick. He was of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha. 2 (It was Mary who anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.) 3 Therefore his sisters sent to him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom you love is sick. 4 When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not to death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified through it. 5 Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus. 6 Therefore, when he heard that he was sick, he remained for two more days where he was. 7 Then after that he said to his disciples, Let us go to Judaea again. 8 His disciples said to him, Rabbi, the Jews were just recently seeking to stone you; and would you go there again? 9 Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world. 10 But if a man walks in the night, he stumbles, because there is no light in him. 11 These things he spoke: and then he said to them, Our friend Lazarus sleeps; but I go, that I may awaken him. 12 Then his disciples said, Lord, if he is sleeping, he shall recover. 13 Yet Jesus spoke of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of natural sleep. 14 Then Jesus said to them plainly, Lazarus is dead.
