⁴⁶ And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway begging. ⁴⁷ And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me. ⁴⁸ And many commanded him to hold his peace: but he cried out all the more, Son of David, have mercy on me. ⁴⁹ And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they called the blind man, saying to him, Take courage, arise; he calls you. ⁵⁰ And he cast away his cloak, arose, and came to Jesus. ⁵¹ And Jesus said to him, What do you want that I should do for you? The blind man said to him, Master, I want to receive my sight. ⁵² And Jesus said to him, Go your way; your faith has made you well. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus along the way.

¹ And Jesus entered and was passing through Jericho. ² And, behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus, who was the chief among the tax gatherers, and he was rich. ³ And he sought to see who Jesus was; but could not because of the crowd, for he was of small stature. ⁴ And he ran ahead, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way. ⁵ And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said to him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for today I must stay at your house. ⁶ And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully. ⁷ And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, He has gone to be the guest of a man who is a sinner. ⁸ And Zacchaeus stood, and said to the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have defrauded any man of anything, I will repay it fourfold. ⁹ And Jesus said to him, This day salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham.

³⁰ By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were encircled for seven days.
