²² Flee youthful lusts: and follow righteousness, faith, love, and peace, with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. ²³ Have nothing to do with foolish and ignorant controversies, knowing that they breed strife. ²⁴ And the servant of the Lord must not be quarrelsome; but kind to all, able to teach, forbearing, ²⁵ In gentleness correcting those who oppose him; that God might grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth; ²⁶ And that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.

¹¹ And that you aspire to live quietly, and to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you; ¹² That you may behave properly toward those who are outside, and that you may lack nothing.

¹⁶ Only let us hold true to that which we have already attained.

¹ Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do every good work, ² To speak evil of no man, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all courtesy to all men. ³ For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, deceived, slaves to various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy; hated, and hating one another.

¹⁶ This I say, Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the desires of the flesh. ¹⁷ For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are in conflict with one another: so that you cannot do the things that you wish.

¹⁵ But if you bite and devour one another, take heed that you are not consumed by one another.
