¹⁹ Dearly beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place for the wrath of God: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, says the Lord.

¹ Does any of you dare, if you have a dispute against another, to go to law before the ungodly, instead of before the saints? ² Do you not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters? ³ Do you not know that we shall judge angels? how much more, things that pertain to this life? ⁴ If then you have such disputes, set them before those who are least esteemed in the church. ⁵ I speak this to your shame. Can it be that there is not a wise man among you who shall be able to judge between his brethren? ⁶ But brother goes to law against brother, and that before the unbelievers.

¹⁵ If your brother shall sin against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone: if he shall hear you, you have gained your brother. ¹⁶ But if he will not hear you, then take with you one or two more, that by the testimony of two or three witnesses every word may be established. ¹⁷ And if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the church: but if he even refuses to hear the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax gatherer.
