³⁷ But let your statements be, Yes for yes; No for no: for whatever is more than these comes from the evil one.

²⁶ For if we sin wilfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins,

¹⁶ But avoid godless and empty chatter: for it will lead people to more ungodliness,

⁸ Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are honest, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are admirable; if there is any virtue, and if there is anything worthy of praise, think on these things.

² And do not be conformed to this world: but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good, and acceptable, and perfect.

¹² But above all things, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven, or by the earth, or with any other oath: but let your yes be yes; and your no, no; lest you fall into condemnation.

¹ Therefore be imitators of God, as dear children; ² And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us, and has given himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice, a sweet smelling aroma to God. ³ But sexual immorality, and all impurity, or covetousness, must not even be named among you, as is befitting saints; ⁴ Nor let there be filthiness, or foolish talk, or coarse jesting, which are not proper: but rather giving of thanks. ⁵ For this you know: that no sexually immoral or impure person, or covetous man, (for such a man is an idolater,) has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. ⁶ Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. ⁷ Therefore, do not be partakers with them. ⁸ For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord: walk as children of light; ⁹ (For the fruit of the Spirit consists in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) ¹⁰ And try to learn what is pleasing to the Lord. ¹¹ Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them, ¹² For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done by the disobedient in secret. ¹³ But all things that are exposed by the light become visible: for everything that is made visible is light. ¹⁴ Therefore he says, Awaken, you who sleep, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give you light. ¹⁵ See then that you walk carefully, not as fools, but as wise men, ¹⁶ Making the most of the time, because the days are evil. ¹⁷ Therefore, do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. ¹⁸ And do not be drunk with wine, which is debauchery; but be filled with the Spirit; ¹⁹ Speaking to one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; ²⁰ Always giving thanks for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; ²¹ Submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ. ²² Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. ²³ For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church, his body: and he himself is its saviour. ²⁴ Therefore, as the church is subject to Christ, so let wives be to their own husbands in everything. ²⁵ Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church, and gave himself up for her; ²⁶ That he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water through the word, ²⁷ That he might present her to himself a glorious church, without spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that she should be holy and without blemish. ²⁸ So husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. ²⁹ For no man ever hated his own flesh; but he nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church: ³⁰ Because we are members of his body. ³¹ For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother, and be joined to his wife, and the two shall be one flesh. ³² This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. ³³ Nevertheless, let every one of you love his wife as himself; and let the wife see that she respects her husband.

³⁶ But I say to you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account of on the day of judgment.

¹¹ Not that which goes into the mouth defiles a man; but that which comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.

¹⁰ Out of the same mouth proceeds blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.

²⁹ Let no corrupt words proceed out of your mouth, but only that which is good for edifying, that it may impart grace to the hearers.

⁸ But now put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and filthy speech from your mouth.
