¹⁶ For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. ¹⁷ For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world might be saved through him.

² Beloved, I pray that in all things you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers.

¹ Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God: because many false prophets have gone out into the world. ² By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God: ³ And every spirit that does not confess Jesus, is not of God: this is the spirit of antichrist, of which you have heard that it was coming; and now is already in the world.

¹ Therefore be imitators of God, as dear children; ² And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us, and has given himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice, a sweet smelling aroma to God. ³ But sexual immorality, and all impurity, or covetousness, must not even be named among you, as is befitting saints; ⁴ Nor let there be filthiness, or foolish talk, or coarse jesting, which are not proper: but rather giving of thanks. ⁵ For this you know: that no sexually immoral or impure person, or covetous man, (for such a man is an idolater,) has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. ⁶ Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. ⁷ Therefore, do not be partakers with them. ⁸ For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord: walk as children of light; ⁹ (For the fruit of the Spirit consists in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) ¹⁰ And try to learn what is pleasing to the Lord. ¹¹ Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them, ¹² For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done by the disobedient in secret. ¹³ But all things that are exposed by the light become visible: for everything that is made visible is light. ¹⁴ Therefore he says, Awaken, you who sleep, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give you light. ¹⁵ See then that you walk carefully, not as fools, but as wise men, ¹⁶ Making the most of the time, because the days are evil. ¹⁷ Therefore, do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. ¹⁸ And do not be drunk with wine, which is debauchery; but be filled with the Spirit; ¹⁹ Speaking to one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; ²⁰ Always giving thanks for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

⁷ To all who are in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

¹ Behold, how great is the love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God; and so we are. The world does not know us, because it did not know him. ² Beloved, now we are the sons of God; and what we shall be has not yet been disclosed: but we know that when he shall appear, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.

¹² Therefore, as the chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on hearts of mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience;
