¹⁶ For which cause we are not fainthearted; but though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. ¹⁷ For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh out for us, in a higher and still higher degree, an everlasting weight of glory; ¹⁸ while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are but for a time; but the things which are not seen are ever lasting.

²² For I delight in the Law of God, as to the inward man;

¹² For the word of God is living, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, both the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart;

⁶³ It is the spirit which maketh alive; the flesh profiteth nothing. The words which I have spoken to you are spirit, and are life.

¹⁵ For I know not what I do. For I do not what I would, but I do what I hate. ¹⁶ But if I do what I would not, I assent to the Law that it is good. ¹⁷ Now, however, it is no longer I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. ¹⁸ For I know that there dwelleth not in me, that is, in my flesh, any good thing; for to desire is present with me, but not to perform that which is good. ¹⁹ For the good that I would, I do not; but the evil which I would not, that I do. ²⁰ But if I do what I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. ²¹ I find then that there is a law to me, that when I would do good, evil is present with me. ²² For I delight in the Law of God, as to the inward man; ²³ but I perceive another law in my members warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. ²⁴ Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from the body of this death?

¹ Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone forth into the world.

¹³ Hereby we know that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.

¹⁶ But I say, Walk by the Spirit, and ye will not fulfill the desires of the flesh.

²⁴ God is a spirit; and they who worship must worship in spirit and in truth.

¹³ But when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all the truth. For he will not speak from himself, but whatever he shall hear, that he will speak; and he will tell you the things to come.
