⁴ (for the weapons of our warfare are not fleshly, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds,) ⁵ casting down reasonings, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing every purpose into captivity to the obedience of Christ,

¹⁸ For I esteem the sufferings of the present time as of no account, when compared with the glory which is about to be revealed to us. ¹⁹ For the earnest expectation of the creation is waiting for the manifestation of the sons of God. ²⁰ For the creation was brought into subjection to vanity not of its own will, but by reason of him who put it into subjection, ²¹ in hope that even the creation itself will be set free from the bondage of corruption and brought into the freedom of the glory of the children of God. ²² For we know that the whole creation is together groaning and suffering the pains of labor, up to this time; ²³ and not only so, but even we ourselves also, though having the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption as sons, for the redemption of our body. ²⁴ For we were saved only in hope. But hope which is seen is not hope; how can a man hope for that which he seeth? ²⁵ But if we hope for that which we do not see, then do we with patience wait for it.

³³ Who shall bring any charge against the chosen of God? God is he who accepteth them as righteous. ³⁴ Who is he that condemneth? Christ is he that died, yea rather, who rose again, who is also at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. ³⁵ Who shall separate us from the love of Christ for us? Shall affliction or distress or persecution or famine or nakedness or peril or sword? ³⁶ As it is written, "For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we were accounted as sheep for slaughter." ³⁷ Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors, through him that loved us. ³⁸ For I am persuaded, that neither death nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, ³⁹ nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God for us, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

²⁸ We know moreover that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.

¹⁴ For sin shall not hold dominion over you; for ye are not under the Law, but under grace.

¹⁵ For I know not what I do. For I do not what I would, but I do what I hate. ¹⁶ But if I do what I would not, I assent to the Law that it is good. ¹⁷ Now, however, it is no longer I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. ¹⁸ For I know that there dwelleth not in me, that is, in my flesh, any good thing; for to desire is present with me, but not to perform that which is good. ¹⁹ For the good that I would, I do not; but the evil which I would not, that I do. ²⁰ But if I do what I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. ²¹ I find then that there is a law to me, that when I would do good, evil is present with me. ²² For I delight in the Law of God, as to the inward man; ²³ but I perceive another law in my members warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. ²⁴ Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from the body of this death? ²⁵ Thanks be to God, [who hath delivered me] through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then, I, the same person, with the mind serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin.

²⁶ In like manner the Spirit also helpeth our weakness; for we know not what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit itself intercedeth with groans which cannot be expressed in words. ²⁷ But he that searcheth the hearts knoweth the mind of the Spirit, because it intercedeth for the holy according to the will of God.
