Bible verses about "virtues" | NSB

1 Corinthians 13:13

13 Faith, hope and love remain. These three! The greatest of these is love!

2 Peter 1:5

5 Yes, for this very reason you do your part with all diligence. Supply virtue to your faith. Add knowledge to your virtue.

1 Corinthians 13:1-13

1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and do not have love, I have become like loud sounding brass, or a clashing cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophesy, and know all secrets and all knowledge, and though I have all faith so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, I gain nothing. 4 Love is patient. Love is kind. Love is not jealous. Love does not brag and is not arrogant (proud). 5 Love does not act indecently. It is not selfish. It is not provoked and does not take into account a wrong suffered. 6 Love does not rejoice with evil, but rejoices with the truth. 7 It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things. 8 Love never fails. Where there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away. Where there are tongues, they will cease. Where there is knowledge, it will be done away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part. 10 When the perfect comes, the partial (imperfect) (incomplete) will be done away. 11 When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, and reason like a child. When I became an adult I did away with childish things. 12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, and then we will see face to face. Now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known. 13 Faith, hope and love remain. These three! The greatest of these is love!

Acts 2:38

38 Then Peter said: »Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Colossians 3:12

12 As God’s chosen, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, lowliness (humility), meekness (mildness), and long-suffering (patience).

2 Peter 1:6-11

6 Include self-control with your knowledge. Supply patience to your self-control. Your patience should be helped by godliness. 7 Add brotherly kindness to your godliness. And to your brotherly kindness add love. 8 For if these things are yours and abound in you they will keep you from being inactive or unfruitful regarding the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 For he who lacks these qualities is blind, seeing only what is near, having forgotten the cleansing from his old sins. 10 Brothers, be more diligent to make your calling and election (choosing) sure. If you do (practice) (exercise) (apply) these things, you will never stumble! 11 For in this way the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be richly (abundantly) supplied to you.

2 Peter 1:1-11

1 Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have obtained a precious faith with us in the righteousness of our God, and of our Savior Jesus Christ: 2 Grace to you and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord! 3 His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness. This is through the knowledge of him that called us by his own glory and virtue (excellence). 4 He offered us his precious and exceedingly great promises. Through these you may become partakers of the divine nature. You will escape from the corruption that is in the lust-filled world. 5 Yes, for this very reason you do your part with all diligence. Supply virtue to your faith. Add knowledge to your virtue.

Philippians 4:8

8 Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things.
