¹⁷ Righteous people cry out. Jehovah hears and rescues them from all their troubles. ¹⁸ Jehovah is near to those whose hearts and minds are humble and contrite. He saves the broken hearted and crushed in spirit. ¹⁹ The righteous person has many troubles, but Jehovah rescues him from all of them. ²⁰ Jehovah guards all of his bones. Not one of them is broken.

⁸ Let me hear your loving kindness in the morning. For I trust in you! Teach me the way in which I should walk for to you I am lifted up. ⁹ Deliver me, O Jehovah, from my enemies. I take refuge in you. ¹⁰ Teach me to do your will, for you are my God. Let your good Spirit lead me on level ground.

¹⁴ Soldiers also asked him: »What must we do?« And he said: »Do not take money from any one by force. Never falsely accuse any one wrongfully and be content with your wages.«

⁴ He is the minister of God to you for good. But if you do that which is evil, be afraid for he does not bear the sword in vain. He is the minister of God, an avenger to execute wrath upon him that does evil.

³ You must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. ⁴ No soldier entangles himself in the affairs of this life. That way, he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier.

¹ David: Blessed be my rock (strength) Jehovah. He trained my hands to fight and my fingers to do battle,

¹¹ Put on the full armor (every implement) of God, that you may be able to stand against the cunning (inventive) (clever) methods of the devil. ¹² Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in heavenly places. ¹³ For that reason, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, having done everything, to stand firm. ¹⁴ Stand firm therefore and gird your loins with truth. Put on the breastplate of righteousness. ¹⁵ Shod your feet with the preparation of the good news of peace. ¹⁶ Also take up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one. ¹⁷ Take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
