Proverbs 16:18

18 Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.

Proverbs 22:24-25

24 Do not befriend an angry man. Do not associate with a man who throws fits. 25 If you do you will learn his ways and you will become trapped.

Matthew 7:16

16 »By their fruits you will know them. Do men get grapes from thorns or figs from thistles?

Matthew 18:15-17

15 »If your brother does wrong to you, go to him in private. Clearly explain his error between you and him. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother back. 16 »If he does not listen to you, take one or two more people with you. Two or three witnesses may prove every case. 17 »If he will not listen to them, let it come to the attention of the congregation. If he will not listen to the congregation, let him be to you as a heathen and a tax collector.

John 3:19

19 »This is the judgment, that the light has come into the world. People loved the darkness rather than the light for their works were evil.

Ephesians 6:4

4 Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of God.

1 John 2:1-29

1 My little children, I write you these things that you may not sin. If any man sin, we have an Advocate (intercessor) (comforter) (helper) with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous! 2 He is the propitiation (Greek: hilasmos: atonement, compensation) for our sins. Not for ours only, but also for the whole world. 3 We know that we know him, when we obey his commandments. 4 He who says: I know him, and does not obey his commandments is a liar! The truth is not in him. 5 Whoever obeys his Word; the love of God is made perfect (complete) (mature) in him. By this we know that we are in union with him. 6 He that says he lives in union with him should walk as he walked. 7 Beloved, I write no new commandment to you, but an old commandment you had from the beginning. This old commandment is the word that you heard. 8 Then again, I do write a new commandment to you. This is true in him and in you. The darkness is passing away, and the true light already shines. 9 He who says he is in the light and hates his brother is still in the darkness! 10 He who loves his brother lives in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling (offence) in him. 11 But he who hates his brother is in the darkness, and walks in the darkness. He does not know where he goes because the darkness has blinded his eyes. 12 I write to you, my little children, because your sins are forgiven on account of his name. 13 I write to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I write to you, little children, because you know the Father. 14 I write to you, fathers, because you have known him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God lives in you, and you have overcome the evil one. 15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If any one loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 The entire world, the desire of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of material wealth, is not from the Father, but is from the world. 17 The world and its desires (lusts) are passing away; but he who does the will of God lives forever. 18 Little children, it is the last hour! You heard that the antichrist is coming. Even now many antichrists have come. That is how we know that it is the last hour. 19 They went out from us, but they were not of us. If they had belonged to us, they would have continued with us. But they went out that it made it plain that they all are not of us. 20 You have an anointing from the Holy One, and you all know. 21 I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and because no lie is of the truth. 22 Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, even he who denies the Father and the Son. 23 Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father. He who confesses the Son has the Father also. 24 As for you, let that live in you, which you heard from the beginning. If that which you heard from the beginning lives in you, you will also live in the Son, and in the Father. 25 This is the promise he promised us, life eternal. 26 I write you these things concerning those who would lead you astray. 27 The anointing (special endowment of Holy Spirit) you received from Him is a part of you (is with you) and you do not need anyone (any human) to teach you. His anointing taught you concerning all things. It is no lie. It is truth, just as you were taught you live through him. 28 Now, my little children dwell (Greek: meno: stay, dwell, be present) with him. If he shall be made known we may have boldness, and not be ashamed before him at his coming (presence) (being near). 29 If you know that he is righteous you know that every one who practices righteousness is born of him.

Psalms 36:1-3

1 ([Psalm of David]) Sin speaks to the ungodly deep within his heart. There is no reverence for God before his eyes. 2 He flatters himself and does not hate or even recognize his sin. 3 The words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit and he ceased to be wise and do good.

Proverbs 4:16

16 They do not sleep unless they have done evil. Their sleep is taken away unless they make someone fall.

Matthew 7:1-5

1 »Stop judging, so that you will not be judged. 2 »As you judge, so you will be judged. As you measure, it will be measured to you. 3 »Why do you see the speck in your brother’s eye? Do you not consider the beam in your own eye? 4 »Will you tell your brother, ‘I will remove the speck from your eye’ when there is a beam in your own eye? 5 »You hypocrite! First remove the beam out of your own eye. Then you can see to remove the speck out of your brother’s eye.

Titus 1:16

16 They profess that they know God; but deny him by their works! They are detestable, disobedient, and not approved for any good work.

Proverbs 18:12

12 Before destruction the heart of man is prideful. Humility comes before honor and glory.

Romans 16:17-19

17 Now I beseech you, brothers, mark those who cause divisions and offenses contrary to the doctrine you have learned and avoid them. 18 They do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the unaware. 19 Your obedience has come to our attention abroad. I am glad therefore on your behalf. Yet I would have you wise to that which is good and simple concerning evil.

Philippians 2:22-30

22 But you know of his proven worth. It was like a son with his father that he served with me to further the good news. 23 I hope to send him as soon as I see how it goes with me. 24 I trust in the Lord that I also will come shortly. 25 I find it necessary to send Epaphroditus to you. He is my brother and fellow-worker and fellow-soldier, and your messenger and minister to my need. 26 He longed to see you and was worried because you had heard that he was sick. 27 Indeed he was sick and near to death. But God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but also on me, that I might not have sorrow upon sorrow. 28 I have sent him quickly, that, when you see him again, you may rejoice, and that I may be the less sorrowful. 29 Receive him therefore in the Lord with all joy. Hold such in honor 30 because for the work of Christ he came near to death, risking his life to supply that which was lacking in your service toward me.

Philippians 2:1-30

1 If there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any tender affection (tender mercy) and compassions, 2 make my joy full by being of the same mind, having the same love, being of one accord, and of one purpose. 3 Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility consider others more important than you. 4 Look out for the interest of others and not only for your own personal interest. 5 Have this attitude (mind-set) (understanding) (mental state) in you that was also in Christ Jesus. 6 He existed in the form (shape and nature) of God but did not try to be equal with God. He did not even consider it! 7 He emptied (humbled) himself by taking the form of a servant. He was made in the likeness of men. 8 He obtained the appearance as a man, humbled himself, and became obedient even to death, yes, death on the stake. 9 For this reason God highly exalted him, and gave to him the name that is above every name, (Relative authority given by Jehovah God, the Father to His Son) (Philipians 2:11) 10 that in the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven and things on earth and things under the earth, 11 and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. 12 My beloved, you have always obeyed, not just in my presence, but now much more in my absence. Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. 13 It is God who works in you both to will and to work, for his good pleasure. 14 Do all things without complaining (grumbling) (murmuring) and questioning (disputing). 15 That way you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation. You are seen as lights in the world. 16 Hold fast to the word of life so I may rejoice in the day of Christ. That way I will not have labored in vain. 17 If I am offered for the sacrifice and service of your faith, I rejoice with you all. 18 You should also rejoice in the same manner. 19 I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you shortly that I may be encouraged when I know your circumstances. 20 For I have no man likeminded, who will truly care for you. 21 They all seek their own interest and not the things of Jesus Christ.

1 Peter 5:5-6

5 Likewise, you younger men, be subject to the older men. Yes, all of you clothe yourselves with humility and serve one another. God resists the proud, but gives loving kindness to the humble. 6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you at the proper time.

2 Timothy 3:1-7

1 Know this also that in the last days perilous (dangerous) times will come. 2 For men will be lovers of their own selves, covetous (lovers of money), arrogant, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful (ungrateful), unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, despisers of those who are good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5 having a form of godliness, but denying its power. Stay away from people like this! 6 Among them are those who creep into houses and lead captive gullible women loaded down with sins, led away with various lusts. 7 They are constantly learning, and never able to grasp the knowledge of the truth.
