⁷ »You will open the eyes of the blind and set free those who sit in dark prisons.

³ »It does not! I tell you; if you do not turn from your sins, you will die as they did.

²² »Repent of this wickedness, and pray to God, that the thought in your heart may be forgiven you.

²³ For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God

⁹ If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and have active faith in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

⁸ Be sober, be watchful: your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion walks about, seeking whom he may devour (consume).

¹² Beloved ones do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, for it comes upon you like a test, as though some strange thing were happening to you.

¹³ Is any among you suffering? Let him pray. Is any cheerful? Let him sing praise.

¹³ I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

⁴ »God will wipe away all tears from their eyes. There will be no more death. There will be no more sorrow nor crying. There will be no more pain! The former things have passed away.«

³³ For Jehovah hears the needy and does not despise his captive people.

⁹ If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

³ Remember those who are in prison, as though you were in prison with them. Remember those who are suffering, as though you were suffering as they are.

²² Be doers of the word, and not hearers only, who deceive themselves.

³³ Do not be deceived: Bad company corrupts good morals. ³⁴ Wake up to righteousness and do not sin. Some do not have knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.

⁹ Jehovah is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness. He is longsuffering (patient) toward you. He does not wish that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

¹ Let every person be subject to superior authorities. For there is no authority except by God. God allows the authorities to serve in their positions. ² Whoever opposes the authority resists the ordinance of God. Those who resist will receive judgment. ³ For rulers are objects of fear, not to good works, but to the evil. Will you not have respect for the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from it. ⁴ He is the minister of God to you for good. But if you do that which is evil, be afraid for he does not bear the sword in vain. He is the minister of God, an avenger to execute wrath upon him that does evil. ⁵ You must be in subjection, not only because of that wrath, but also for the sake of your conscience. ⁶ That is why you pay taxes. They are God’s ministers continually serving this very purpose. ⁷ Render therefore to all their due. Provide tribute to whom tribute is due. Give custom to whom custom is owed. Render fear to whom fear is owed and offer honor to whom honor is deserved. ⁸ Owe no man any thing but to love one another. He that loves another has fulfilled (obeyed) the law. ⁹ For the Law code says: You must not commit adultery, you must not murder, you must not steal, you must not bear false witness, and you must not covet. If there is any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying; namely, you must love your neighbor as yourself. ¹⁰ Love works no ill to his neighbor. Therefore love is the law’s fulfillment. ¹¹ You know the time. It is the hour for you to awake from sleep. Now our salvation is nearer than when we became believers. ¹² The night is far along and the day is at hand. Let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. ¹³ Let us walk honestly as in the daytime, not in rioting and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and loose conduct, not in strife and jealousy. ¹⁴ Put on (live like) (clothe yourself with) the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not make provision for the desires of the flesh.

¹⁰ »'Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. The devil (false accuser) (Devil) is about to throw you into prison, that you may be tested. You will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful even if you must die, and I will give you the crown of life.

¹² The man who endures under trial is blessed. For when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life that God promised to those who love him.
