¹ ([Psalm of David]) Jehovah is my shepherd; I shall not want. ² He makes me to lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside the still waters. ³ He restores me and he leads me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. ⁴ Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for you are with me. Your rod and your staff they comfort me. ⁵ You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies: you anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over. ⁶ Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of Jehovah forever.

¹² Wisdom is a shelter just as money is a shelter. The advantage of knowledge is that wisdom gives lift to those who have it.

¹² »I said: Plow new ground for yourselves, plant righteousness, and reap the blessings that your devotion to me will produce. It is time for you to turn to me, Jehovah, and I will come and pour out righteousness on you.

²⁴ »The servant who received one talent said: ‘Lord, I knew you to be a hard man. You reap where you did not sow and gather where you did not scatter. ²⁵ »‘I was afraid, so I hid your talent in the earth. See, you have what is yours.’ ²⁶ »But his lord answered: ‘You wicked and lazy servant. You knew that I reap where I did not sow and gather where I did not scatter. ²⁷ »‘You should have put my money in the bank. I should have received my money back plus interest. ²⁸ »‘Take the talent from him and give it to the one who has the ten talents. ²⁹ »‘More will be given to every one who has and he will have abundance. He who does not have will have every thing taken away. ³⁰ »‘Throw the worthless servant into outer darkness. There will be crying and grinding of teeth.’

¹¹ Do not lag behind in diligence. Be fervent in spirit serving God.

¹² And may the Lord make you increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you.

⁸ »This Book of the Law will not depart out of your mouth. You must meditate (intensely study) (think deeply) on it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. Then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

¹⁹ A feast is made for laughter and wine makes merry, but money answers all things.

⁷ »Wisdom is the most important thing. So gain wisdom! And by all means arrive at understanding.

²⁹ Do you see a man diligent in his business? He will stand before kings. He will not stand before unknown men.

If you do this Jehovah your God will place you high above all the other nations in the world. ² »These are all the blessings that will come to you and stay close to you because you obey Jehovah your God: ³ »Jehovah will bless your towns and your fields. ⁴ »Jehovah will bless you with many children, with abundant crops, and with many cattle and sheep. ⁵ »Jehovah will bless your grain crops and the food you prepare from them. ⁶ »Jehovah will make you successful in your daily work. ⁷ »Jehovah will cause your enemies who rise up against you to be struck before you: they shall come out against you one-way, and shall flee before you seven ways. ⁸ »Jehovah will command the blessing upon you in your barns and in all that you put your hand to, and He will bless you in the land Jehovah your God gives you. ⁹ »Jehovah will establish you as a holy people to himself. He swore this to you, if you obey the commandments of Jehovah your God and walk in His ways. ¹⁰ »All the peoples of the earth will see that you are called by the name of Jehovah, and they will be afraid of you. ¹¹ »Jehovah will make you abound in prosperity, in the offspring of your body and in the offspring of your animals and in the produce of your ground, the land that Jehovah swore to your fathers to give you. ¹² »Jehovah will open for you his good storehouse. The skies will give rain to your land in due season. It will bless all the work of your hand. You will lend to many nations, but you will not borrow. ¹³ »Jehovah will make you the head and not the tail, and you only will be above, and you will not be underneath. If you listen to the commandments of Jehovah your God, which I charge you today, to observe them carefully, ¹⁴ and do not turn aside from any of the words I command you today, to the right or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.

¹⁴ »It is like a man going to another country. He called his servants and put them in charge of his property. ¹⁵ »To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one. He assigned according to the servants’ ability. Then he went on his journey. ¹⁶ »Right away the servant who received the five talents traded with them and made another five talents. ¹⁷ »In like manner, he who received the two gained another two. ¹⁸ »He who received the one dug a hole in the ground and hid his lord’s money. ¹⁹ »After a long time the lord of those servants came back to settle with them. ²⁰ »The servant who received five talents brought another five talents.
